you can make it to the Sunrise

Sol walked slowly through the grasses of Dove Hills, grateful that, for once, it was not raining. The sky was, in fact, rather clear, and he would occasionally tilt his head back to glance at the stars overhead in order to commemorate that fact. It was a good night for traveling, he decided, and he would make the most of it.[break][break]
But then, before he could take another step, Sol was halted by a flash of light across the sky. Looking up, he saw the tail of what appeared to be a comet streaking through the darkness, except it was much larger, and only seemed to grow the longer it fell. Then, he realized startlingly that the object was falling towards Somerset, and he could only watch, transfixed, as it happened. But, while he was expected a thundering sound, the ground shattering beneath so great a force, he had not expected for the comet to just dip beneath the horizon and disappear without any ado, save for a sudden wave of blinding light that temporarily incapacitated his vision.
A Goddess. She had come from the heavens to watch over them, and she was even granting them a gift. It sounded too good to be true, and Sol smiled wryly to himself at the prospect. Nothing ever comes for free, that much he knew, and he wondered what price the wolves of Somerset would have to pay in the future to the Goddess in exchange for her benevolence. Yet, all the same, he was still curious, and figured that it wouldn't hurt to try.
"Goddess," he spoke, voice clear and calm as it pierced the silence of the evening. "I thank you for your kindness, and ask for any power you may deem fit to bless me with."
