CHER
as sure as she was moving forward, was she also travelling forward, backward and nowhere at all Cher was so very hungry - perhaps that was what had spurred her to move her feet from the fairly comfortable rainforest she lived in. It had always been so, her travelling when her bodily needs drove her to. If she chose to hunt in the conveniently prey-filled forest, surely it would have sent a jaguar or a bear her way. It was, after all, also rather predator-filled.
So she had made the trip while there was still time to spare, making use of her long legs and quick trot, eyes and nose on the alert for something to eat- and no, a tiny rabbit wouldn't do. Go big or go home, right? Cher certainly wasn't about to go home just yet.
Landscape mattered not to the female, not while there was food to be found and bellies to be filled. Beauty was the satisfaction of a full stomach and a neat kill, not the prettiness of the sky or the delicate flowers (but it was still in the eye of the beholder - Cher just wasn't very keen on them, that was all, she liked to tell herself). For days, she moved, and on the third day, she was resisting the temptation to let saliva run freely from her mouth when she scented food. Smell she couldn't recognise, it was, but it was so obviously food and so delicious...
She crouched low, hoping that the grass might be able to camouflage her body, positioning herself such that the wind was blowing towards her face - it only served to ramp up her appetite, but deep somewhere in her subconscious, she knew that this way, the prey would not be able to smell her just yet.
She snuck forward, making as little noise as possible as it was when she wanted so much to just run and sink her teeth in - but she culled the urge, eyes narrowed and jaws slavering openly now. On three. two, one - Cher leaped out, aiming for the hind leg of the strange animal, seeking to clamp her maw firmly around the delicate joint and snap, so as to bring the creature down.

While Cher was making an effort to be quiet, the guanaco had been alone for awhile and was extremely aware - the slight rustling sound of the wolf's attack was enough to make it jump in panic, striking out at the movement just based on instinct alone. Its hoof makes contact with Cher's chest - however, not being a creature meant for or used to fighting, it's a glancing blow.

NAME
as sure as she was moving forward, was she also travelling forward, backward and nowhere at all She was so close, so so so so so close that she could practically taste how the warm flesh would be in her mouth - soft and sweet and beautifully tender, and moist - and that was just her stomach speaking to her brain. As she lunged, her mind travelled to pleasures of the veritable feast, but hunger had slowed her reactions and the animal spooked, immediately kicking out at her chest.
It hurt, enough to drag her out of her dreams, but not enough to kill and without waiting to see what it would do, she bent down with her jaws wide open to snap at the limb as it retreated. Meanwhile the gash she'd gained continued bleeding, but Cher was a hunter and her prey was young.
She lunged with all her might to grab at the leg of the creature, praying to the newly discovered Chaos that she'd hit something. So far, it seemed her hunger had made her careless.

This time, even without the element of surprise, the guanaco was not quick enough to get away - the unyielding jaws closed on the fragile bone with a crunching snap. The animal swings away in panic, but is too uncoordinated with one hind leg to bound off - instead it staggers forward, trying to flee.

CHER
as sure as she was moving forward, was she also travelling forward, backward and nowhere at all This time, her teeth bit deep into the leg, feeling tremors run down her spine from the snap of bone, shattering against the force of her bite. Blood spilled into her waiting jaws, the metallic tang of it washing against the back of her tongue as she allowed it to coat the roof, the sides, the bottom of her mouth, momentarily sating her hunger to allow her to draw back - just in time, as the creature frantically swung away from its predator, frenzied eyes no longer looking to fight, but to escape.
Cher wasn't about to let it, not without numerous injuries on her part and at least a goodly-sized chunk of flesh. The gash on her chest still hurt - it hadn't begun to throb in pain, yet, and with the adrenaline and rush of blood in her veins, it continued to bleed small amounts. Even so, the female kept her eyes firmly fixated on her prey clearly attempting to flee.
Really, now, if she aimed directly for the neck she would certainly be injured, so she paced forward, allowing the animal to move but also keeping her body aligned with it - she stood on the side opposite the shattered limb, aiming to leap and push it down onto the ground where she could better kill it. Of course, she risked too much - but she wanted to end it before she could get substantially hurt.

It was luck that the creature was able to duck out of the way when the wolf jumped at it, but in a moment of pain and adrenaline, it remained on its feel. However, blood still dripped down from its shattered leg, and every movement was jarring.

CHER
as sure as she was moving forward, was she also travelling forward, backward and nowhere at all She bared her teeth in a growl, eyes narrowing and ears pressed flat to her head - why was it not working, when it was already so injured? It shouldn't be able to stand on three legs after such an ordeal, or maybe Cher was just too used to the easy prey she got in her Forest, plump and slow enough that she had meals when she desperately needed. Unlike now. But it was still incredibly frustrating, which the young wolf preferred not to have.
As she had jumped, her limbs had stretched out, slightly tearing the skin of her injury and Cher hissed in displeasure when it split and more dribbles of blood spilled out from the new lines extending from the original. She couldn't give up now, could she? She'd already come so far - besides, it seemed that the animal might wobble enough to bring it down if she gave it another shot...
But this time, she let loose a guttural snarl from low in her chest and sent herself barreling at it, forcing herself to run straight at the animal, still at its side. Her eyes were closed into small slits, her ears were completely flat and her tail was stretched out behind her to keep her balance. She extended her neck, mouth right open and body charging low to the ground, clearly going for the other, noninjured hind leg. Cher ignored all danger (careless, but she was starving), caring not about the threat of hooves nearby, hoping that she could a) snap the other bone and b) use the force of her run to knock the beast down to the ground anyway.
And yes, she was probably going to pay for her foolishness later, though she would argue that she hadn't wanted to starve to death.

The animal had had enough. It saw the wolf charging, and this time leaped forward with all the strength it had in that remaining limb, once again lithely dodging the young wolf. It may have been injured, but its existence was based on survival, and it was bred for centuries for that purpose. It was already too late, of course - surviving a leg injury like that was nearly impossible - but it didn't have it inside to give up. Even on three legs, the animal wasn't entirely slow. The chase was on.

CHER
as sure as she was moving in circles, was she also travelling forward, backward and nowhere at all Cher had failed again - the animal hopped past her, avoiding her jaws - but she was still running, and she didn't have enough time to stop and change direction, ending up screeching to a halt just as the thing itself came to a standstill. She readied herself again, maintaining the same posture she'd held just previously and charged again, this time running even faster; even harder.
If she didn't at least get a bite of flesh in her mouth soon, she was quite sure that she'd run out of energy. Cher wasn't anywhere close to dying of hunger but the growl in her belly wasn't sated in the least.

This time, as if prepared for it, the guanaco managed to dash out of Cher's way once more. Still, it was not unaffected by its injury, and the it just barely managed to retain its footing as it hobbled away. But, it had enough of standing still only for the wolf to harass it. Breaking out into a run, the guanaco loped away as best it could with only three good legs to use.
Notes: Going to be picking this up for Kenren! Sorry to have kept you waiting Cher!

CHER

At first, it looked like Cher had something going on for her. Further down the line she was discovering that lunging for the damned animal was doing nothing at all, and only infuriating her somemore - and she had only had a meal since she'd been in that one pack... which she did not remember the name of just yet.
Really, Cher was just too hungry to focus on anything but those succulent legs.
She let loose a low growl and gave up all semblances of caution, casting care to the winds, not even bothering to look out for the creature and where it was kicking - hell, the moment it dared to kick she would snap up those pretty little ankles in her mouth, attempting to bring it down - but that was if it kicked. And then, it would only have two legs. And then it would fall. And hopefully die of agony so that Cher could drag the carcass back somewhere to snack on all by herself.
If not, Cher was aiming for the one that remained, so that the animal would fall forward and be unable to propel itself further. That was the plan.
NOTES: I realised I had no idea which leg was shattered so Cher is just going for the one next to the injured one.

It appeared as though the guanaco's luck had given out. As it stumbled in its path, the wolf's jaws clamped down on its last working hind leg, and the prey animal collapsed unceremoniously on its side. Even though it was unable to walk properly, however, it still made a valiant effort to get to its feet, trashing about, but not making contact, the entire time.

Ohhhh yeah! Score one for the stumbling lady who had managed to rip the wound on her chest even more in all the activity and running around! Good thing she couldn't feel much of the pain at the moment, since she was mostly focused on hunting the animal and partly hyped by the adrenalice racing through her veins. Also getting lost while she lunged and leaped and dripped out faster as her heart beat accordingly. Was that a sign of lightheadness? In hindsight, it was probably better that she didn't get in the way of the kicking hooves-
-Woah it was on the ground, all of a sudden, the giddy female stumbling backwards in shock at how she'd neatly scored a hit on the joints. She skipped carefully to the side, glaring at it with her hard gaze and intent on allowing it to know just how annoyed she was at being forced to chase it everywhere to get a meal.
"Okay, you and me, time out. Break, alright?"
Cher trotted away as if she was giving up, then picked up a rock that fit sort-of well in her mouth and deposited it on the ground next to her and cautiously away from the animal. Then she repeated the action several times, hopefully not wasting energy on collecting a bunch of grey stones. "Hey look, I got you a gift!" A tad maniacally she retook the rock in her mouth and flung it at the meal. "Ready? Catch!" The rest of the pile followed until she'd exhausted her supply to see whether any of her ammunition had even reached its mark.

Perhaps it was the ingenuity of the attack that led to its success, or perhaps it was the fact that the guanaco had only two good legs to walk on. But, either way, the stones Cher lobbed at it pelted the animal's side. Yet, despite the fact that her aim was spot on, the rocks served little more than to annoy the guanaco and urge it back onto its feet. Stumbling forward a few more steps, it slid and fell again, lying there and staring at Cher balefully.
