He hated the north. He hated it. It was cold and there was too much snow and everything was white white white all the time. He'd never liked it, and it was the reason he'd fled the north as soon as he was able.
Then he ran into a problem.
After six months of living in the south, he'd realized that as much as he hated the north, he hated the south even more. It was hot and dry and food was scarce sometimes. And sometimes he hadn't been able to find water for a day or two, and that had been awful. So, thinner than he'd been when he'd left both because of hunger and a thinner hair coat, Atlune was now returning to the north. He didn't want to go back to Everbane - he already knew he hated it there - so he now found himself entering the snowy White Forest. Though it was just as white as every other place, it was a little warmer than the mountaintop. Not that anything was warm at the moment - with his lighter hair coat, only slowly growing thick again, everything was cold. He knew it would probably get better, but for now he was in an incredibly foul mood. Shivering, the young male moodily found a drooping tree bough to duck under, using the snow-covered, cave-like branches to make him a little warmer. He hunched down, tail covering his paws, cursing whatever gods there were for making him deal with all of this mess. If he realized he was trespassing, he was in a bad enough mood that he just didn't care.

The wind blew severely. It howled through the treetops and swished over the earth. It picked up all remaining snow and blew it into the air in gay flurries. It really was a sight to see. But no one was there to notice it. It was a bright morning, and its keeper was away. And so it blew and blew until the sun waned high over the trees, signaling noon. And then it stopped. It died down rather rapidly. One minute, it was rattling the air, and the next it was completely gone. There was no trace of it. The sun reached golden rays through the trees, lightly touching the frozen earth. It tried to melt the snow, to warm the atmosphere, but it was not yet hot enough.
The White Forest remained white.
Cervantes walked briskly toward her home. At least, her home now. She had just been out scouting for any wolf willing to join her pack, but had had zero luck. She had wasted away the whole morning. And now, she returned mid-afternoon to renew her boundaries alone. He growled lightly at the thought. Would no one ever join her pack? She knew that Somerset was not small in number, and so it frustrated her greatly that it had been a week since she had claimed the territory, and still she had not a single member. As she grew closer, she could feel the ground hardening beneath her chocolate paws.
She entered the forest with a heavy sigh, and then began her afternoon duties. As she came upon the last thing, remarking all of her boundaries, she came upon a strange scent on the southern border. It trailed into the Forest. Cerva's heart sped in joy a moment. Maybe someone had come to ask acceptance! An uncharacteristically joyful smile jumped onto her maw as she slowly followed the scent. It didn't go very far before she saw a male laying under cover of a tree. She stopped, and narrowed her purple gaze upon him. Because of her height, she could see his head, although his rear faced her. She noticed his thin coat, and protruding bones. The didn't protrude very much, but she could tell that he was hungry and cold. Anger flicked into her eyes, but he had not stolen. Unless you called shelter theft. Cerva sighed heavily, before she turned and left.
When she returned, a few minutes later, she did not hide her approaching pawsteps as she had done prior. She approached the male from the side this time. Her body language spoke authority and dominant command as she came towards him. Her purple gaze watched him as she drew closer. Finally, she stood by his head. She dropped the limp arctic hare right in front of his nose. She spoke authoritatively, and quite bluntly. She was neither kind nor unkind.
What business has tempted you to trespass on Conlan?
