Red was ravenous, as she had been the last few days. But she still refused to eat. Refused to acknowledge that there might be something....or rather someone growing in her stomach. With a sigh she roll onto her back amongst the bluebell flowers, letting the sun warm her belly...her ever growing belly. It was enough to make her sick. No matter how little she ate she still continued to grow. She wasn't huge, not yet.....but she was getting there. By now her one trim frame was beginning to grow chubby....and she hated it. Wrinkling her nose the willowy beast snapped at a fly that buzzed around her head. Her slender jaws closing with an audible click.
She was still yet to talk to Hephaestus, still yet to tell him the bad news....the bad news that she was still not acknowleging mind you. As if by putting it off she could make it disapear. But it was not going away and her belly was growing by the day. She sighed...a long drawn out sound that whistled from between her teeth like air out of a balloon. Suddenly she felt something touch her ear, twisting about on the warm earth she was able to see the most adorable baby rabbit sitting there. Too young to show fear or even be out of the nest. Her first thought was to snap her jowls around its tiny form. But then she remembered that she was fasting....so what on earth was she supposed to do? Slowly the slender female rolled over onto her stomach. Her black legs stretching out on each side of the tiny bunny. It twitched and sneezed, stretching out its soft nose to sniff at her limbs.
She wasn't sure why...but there was something in her that felt pity for the young creature. While she would have normally snapped it up like a mid-day snack she now felt no desire to do so. As a matter a fact she felt the strangest urge to protect it. Her large ears pressed back against her skull as she stared at the tiny creature, and it did the same. Suddenly a pain in her stomach made her jerk upright, her long limbs sprouting beneath her like trees. The little rabbit bolted into the long grass, its tiny furry feet carrying it as fast as it could go.
Red looked after the small creature, a small whine slipping from between her lips. But the hissing sound of parting grass made her take notice. Large ears twitching atop her skull as she tried to find the origin of the sound.
