INVERNO
The more he watched the more his stomach felt empty. It had been a day or two since him and Bjorn had a decent meal. So the scent and sight of this strong, muscular creature was making him horribly hungry. He remained alert as his eyes looked over the bull, his ears swiveling slowly on his head. Reluctantly he peeled his eyes away from the prey glancing around the meadow. His bright topaz eyes fell onto the figure of another wolf and he studied it. Soon the other wolf looked over and gently swayed his tail. He had the same thoughts that Vern did, it was easy to tell. Vern nodded quietly towards the other wolf swaying his tail gently in return, glad to have another on board. Glancing over to his left he saw Bjorn quietly sitting beside him a habit of his to just suddenly appeared and by now Vern was used to it. Quietly another slipped close by and Vern looked to her. The silent look was well read and again Vern nodded willing to work with the others in order to bring this large bull down. He was still unsure that the four of them could take such a large creature down. Soon two more appeared in the small group and Vern was beginning to get excited for the hunt and the challenge this bull would bring. Looking back to the elk Vern remained quiet, not answering one of the strange males and just throwing one of his smirks in response to Bjorn. No one was stepping in to take charge, to come up with a plan. It was a bit awkward all the silence between the group, but it was to be expected they were complete strangers with one another.
His eyes watched the bull turn to them, his lips peeling back. They were no longer a secret and had been discovered. Vern watched the bull swing his large rack of horns in aggression towards them. The red colored wolf moved forward taking on the bull head on. His first thought was distraction. There needed to be wolves to be distracting the bull as the others attacked from behind or at the bull's side. He then heard one of the females quietly talking of a plan to take the bull down. Vern wasn't sure where he should be, where he would be best at. He was concerned with the red furred female. He now took notice to the fact she had recently had pups and was concerned for her safety because small pups depended on her to feed them and protect them. He felt a strong tug towards her, but he was hesitant. Normally him and Bjorn were a decent team and worked well together when they both hunted together. This was all different, something he wasn't used to and he needed to fall to what position would be best. His body tensed as she watched the female and watched everything that happened next. Blood was drawn and made him salivate.
While the bull was focused on the attack from behind the red female dove in and quickly dove back. He lunged forward bursting through the bush and darting towards the bull, in hopes to distract him before he could even think of harming the red female. Snarling he jumped towards the bull's face as he made a pass landing and circling around sharply. He snarled, pinning his ears and standing his ground. He snapped his jaws and his body towards the bull to try and keep his attention on him doing his best to keep away from his sharp horns.

Going in at the other female's suggestion was enough to keep him focused. Somehow, he realized belatedly that he was the worst one to be in a situation like this. Robin was accustomed to being more of a scavenger, a lone wolf in the most honest sense. There was nothing to be done but to focus on the lessons idly sitting in his mind on what he had been taught, it was natural instinct to cooperate with a pack after all. It was in his blood. But it was still inevitable when he went too centered that he was caught by the shoulder, coming too close to that head swing. He had attempted a nip at the front legs, but evidently had missed by a moment's notice. Eventually he managed to back off though, studying the situation with curious eyes. When the other female was thrown, the growl rumbled in his throat in fury. How dare some idiot animal think he could prove himself superior to a small group of wolves! It just was not natural, and his lope around proved it. It was normal for him to have a slight limp anyway, the occurrence of blood was not going to get him any less prepared to run away. Instead it only annoyed him, there had been worse done to him by other wolves. Staying behind the enraged creature was the only way Robin was tempted to help. Anything closer to the front and he would end up getting something worse done to him. He was not a lead hunter, he was not the one who would pounce on the falling elk. However, his goal of downing the elk similar to the lunge that had been done by the kicked female had its advantaged. Oh, he knew well he could be gored, which would have been problematic. Which is why he settled on the attempt of rapid lunges at the left side, snapping at the feet and flank of the elk. Teeth begged to rip away flesh, snarling as he did it, but when the attention ever swayed to him he would force himself to switch to the right side. And back again. Playing a game with the elk, knowing if he could not succeed in ripping away flesh as actively with his bite attempts, at least he would be a round about distraction just out of reach. If he remained fast enough to avoid another hit.

Tesih jumped back as the massive set of antlers swung toward him. The sharp sound of an injured wolf caused worry to briefly bolt through him before it was forgotten as the tang of blood filled the air. When he backed away, he caught the glistening sheen of blood on the elk’s flank. A grin spread across his face at the confirmation that someone had scored a hit. Another wolf was suddenly with their little crew in front of the elk, joining the red female viciously snapping at their prey. But the elk hadn’t seemed to pay much attention to Teshi when he had done so, and so the young wolf turned his attention elsewhere.
Another wolf was playing a game of distracting the elk, darting from side to side as he lunged at its flanks. A quick glance confirmed that the red female and the male had taken on the task of diverting the elk’s attention from those attacking him. Teshi grinned, staying out of range of the elk and circling off to its right side. The beast might have a harder time fighting back if Teshi managed to injure another leg. With a quick burst of speed, he rushed at the bull, hoping its focus was on one of the other surrounding wolves. As blood roared in his ears, his grin transformed into a more savage look as jaws opened to latch onto the uninjured thigh. He was not quite as large as some of the other wolves, but he was young and the tenacity of youth might be enough to see him through the attack. If he managed to sink his teeth in the elk’s flesh, he would hold on with all his might.

corelis! A loud snarl took to the air, and between the wolves present whom were also snarling, she found it to come in the direction of the front of the bull, gaze slipping over the red wolf. Her gaze shifted abruptly with the movement behind the red wolf, where a third male was bursting through the brush, yet another snarl taking to the air as he leaped for the bull's face. It seemed the group all had the same track of mind, ensuring she wasn't injured, but not stupid enough to allow themselves to come to harm either. As the new male snapped his jaws, Corelis moved her attention to the male that had been hit before she, as he seemed to recover himself.
Corelis was no immune to the frenzy that came with drawn blood, and not only did the scent flood her nose, but the taste was thick on her tongue. Her blood-stained maw twitched as her lips curled away from red-stained teeth, her brow furrowing as two-toned hues slimmed. The male nearest her lunged in, jaws snapping and teeth clicking as he went for the flank and the feet, aiming to further maim, she assumed. She moved to join his endeavors as he started to circle around to do the same for the other side, as if to keep the elk guessing. It was a good tactic, it kept the creature's attention shifting and—
A fourth blur of movement dragged her attention along the underside of the bull, to the other side of the creature, where the hyperactive male was darting in for another hit. With one nipping at the heels and Teshi on the opposite lunging in, Corelis took another opportunity to mirror his movements, though at a different point on the bull. Tail swishing briefly behind her, the female ignored the dull throb in her side, jaws stretching wide toward the spot she'd already managed to bloody, though just beside it. If she could keep going for the point she'd already injured, she could make it deeper and more painful, hopefully rendering the leg useless. Should her attempt prove fruitful, the wolf would latch on tight, yanking her head from side to size in a frenzied state while dropping her weight yet again— hopefully all at the same time if the other male had landed his hit. She was not, however, unaware of the dull throb in her side, though not terribly concerned as the adrenaline and hunger working through her veins kept her plenty distracted.

bull elk
Red: 4 | Inverno: 1 | Robin: 9 | Teshi: 10 | Corelis: 4
The elk's injury had him in full defensive mode. When the wolf to the front jumped forward, landing a sharp bite to his nose, he stumbled backward in haste, eyes wild. Another wolf jumped by him, snarling, and every instinct began to scream at him to run. And yet, his own pride would not let him. He was angry. The elk leaped forward despite his injured flank, stomping his feet after the offending creature. He didn't get a solid body hit, but his hoof did catch the predator's flank as it tried to jump away, opening a gash in its thigh. He made to continue his charge, but another one of the swarming creatures was at his legs, landing quick but painful bites on his haunches and legs. The smell of blood was stronger now. The elk kicked again, determined to get the pain to stop, and again his strong legs connected on flesh with a thud - this time to the chest. Amidst all of the flailing, another wolf attacked, but the elk had turned his hindquarters just in time to avoid what could have been a deadly attack. It was all happening too fast, though, and the next moment jaws sank painfully just next to his wound, and he bellowed again, though this time there was fear as well as rage. His flight instinct kicked in and he found an open spot, trying to run away from the bloodthirsty group - however, the wolf latched to his body and the damage done to the muscle slowed him considerably despite the adrenaline. They would have no trouble catching him again.
The elk is currently at 45% health.
Red = unhurt, Inverno = gash on his thigh, Robin = kicked in the chest, broke the skin but no bones broken, Teshi = unhurt, Corelis = unhurt
(if they did not attack, 1-4 = injured by elk, 5-10 = not injured.
if they did attack, 1-6 = attack hits + no retaliation, 6-9 = attack hits + retaliation, 10 = attack misses + no retaliation)

It never ceased to amuse the male how his good ideas turned into nightmares. While for a bit, it seemed as if he actually put forth a bit of effort on his own part. He managed to get those hind legs flailing, and it pleased him that he remained swift enough. If he would not have been so concentrated on succeeding, he would have remembered he was not the smallest wolf in the bunch. There was a time for large size, but a smaller wolf would have played the game more efficiently. This round, the hit to the chest stunned the wolf. He was forced back from the commotion with a slight yip, forcing himself to shut down on the pain. It plagued him absently, but it was not as bad as wolf teeth that had scored his skin in the past. Head dropped to the ground as he coughed, gasping momentarily for air. Well, the hit had taken him where he expected, but his eyes glittered in a show of yellow-tinted rage. Oh, he hated hunting. There was a reason why he favoured other activities over the sport. But hunger urged him to start back toward the moving fray, only to see the elk attempt a bolt. The curse riddled out of him under his breath, and he forced himself up to the momentarily paused wolves as they processed. No, he would be all but useless if it came to a run down, but the scent of blood filled his senses. Well, there was no need to lose all hope now. Somehow he managed to start a lope, sending himself after the elk with a low growl still played on his throat. Be damned if he got completely trampled, at least the damn thing would be killed eventually! The wolf kept behind to the right this time around, his eyes skimming the forward surroundings. Where would be a good place to send it? Finally, he selected back toward the treeline. Even if it was a worse terrain, as long as they continued at the legs - the beast was sure to topple at some point. Perhaps some of the roots jutting out of the earth into the field in that direction would be of aid.

Teshi’s jaw snapped shut with a harsh click of teeth, the elk having just barely avoided his attack. With a growl, he jumped backwards once more, not all that excited to get hit by a stray hoof by sticking around. The bull cried out again, and Teshi could see another wolf had managed to latch onto the elk. He grinned and leapt froward to join the fray once more, only for their prey to bolt through an opening. It was obviously struggling to escape and Teshi’s heart rate sped up as the chase instinct rose up in him. Without a thought for his fellow hunters or any plans they might have, the young wolf darted after the elk.
Unhurt and with adrenalin pounding through his blood, it took no time at all to catch up to the creature. He raced past another wolf on the right side of the elk. He might have been struggling a bit, but Teshi didn’t have the time or desire to slow down and see if he was alright. He had his sight set on the elk and he was determined to get at least one good bite in before they took the thing down. Ears pinned to his skull, Teshi lunged for the back of the elk’s right foreleg. If there was still a wolf hanging onto his hindquarters, the elk would have difficult time moving with two wolves holding him back.
