He was unsure what time of night it was. All the little ball of fur knew was that it was in the middle of the night when his mother gently picked him up and carried him from the makeshift den. He was exhausted and drifted back to sleep while his mother carried him.He wasn't worried about where they were going, he figured his mother was moving to a new den, somewhere safer for the two of them. With no father in the picture his mother was stuck with all the work of feeding and raising him while caring for herself in the process. Little did the pup know, his life was about to take a big twist. His mother was quiet as they moved which made it easier for his little body to rest peacefully in her gentle grasp. It was vary quiet tonight and the air felt somewhat damp and cold. His mother moved slow, careful not to bounce or disturb him to much. It was as if the female wanted her pup to remain asleep, did not want him to wake up.
Soon he faintly felt the ground underneath his little body and he relaxed more curling up into a tight ball and drifting back to sleep. It was cold, making him curl tighter, but the pup hadn't bothered to wake and whine for his mother. No he had been to tired to force himself to wake up so all he did was remained asleep. Kita didn't know how much time went by, or where exactly he was. At 3 months his nose wasn't as developed, he could smell but no where near as good as an adult. While he was sleeping, dark clouds had moved in and lightning began to flash. His eyes were hidden under his paw so the lightning hadn't disturbed him. The small drops of rain hadn't even bugged him.
A loud crack of thunder snapped the pup to his feet, yelping in surprise at the sudden booming noise. Naturally he whined his big ocean blue eyes looking around him. His mother was no where in sight. His heart began to race and he whined louder getting to his feet and calling for her. This time she didn't come, of course she had never really been the most affectionate type of mother. He sniffed at the ground looking for her scent, but as it began to pour he found it highly difficult to do so. Shaking Kita was terrified, he was in the open, his mother was gone, and it was storming. He could die out in this weather alone. He howled and cried as loud as he could, but she didn't come to him. He yelped and made as much noise as he could hoping she just hadn't heard him.
After a while the pup was soaking and his throat was sore from all the noise he was making. He whined slinking under the closest shelter, a fallen log with an old shallow hole. Crawling under he curled back up, staring at the entrance and keeping himself alert, waiting to hear his mother come to his rescue.

Yana
Paws stumbled forward carefully, her mouth twisted in a show of displeasure. She was cowed by the storm out of her nap easily enough, it meant she was wandering through the home she had always known. She had never quite strayed far away from it, not since the day she had been taken in washed up on the beach. Bracing herself, her nose tasted the air, startled at the whispers in the night.
Well, it seemed everything else was just as restless as she was. It was a reassurance to know that she was not the only one awake and aching tonight. Her eyes lifted, and hungry reds sought out some kind of break through the trees--howling. It jerked her head back down, and ears swiveled on her head in surprise. Gracious! There was a shallow howl on the air that just did not make sense. Everything else seemed so much more advanced.
Paws brought her almost tumbling forward, going rapidly as she found her eyes dancing over one side to the other. Tail slashing through the air, she followed so easily through the trees until she found herself looking for some kind of answer. Head cocked to the side, and while the noises drove her on, eventually they were starting to fade. Fear and alert was enough to have her spurred on though, until she hit the side of the woods.
The rush at seeing something different besides the beach and the comfort of the woods always startled her. It always meant that there was more to the world than what she kept herself too. Irritated with her sudden shock, she twisted her body and lowered her head, feeling the rain drench her coat all the faster. The molted female crept forward, dragging herself through the grass as she inhaled.
Somewhere there was a pup around. It was a confusing thought, but clearly the mother was not by him. Perhaps she would be coming back, something might have startled her. It was always a risk, she was prepared to say what was needed. A mother never should have left a little one out in this weather, it was beyond frightening. Ears pushed back against her head, and eventually the downed grass showed her where she needed to be.
Crouching down, her eyes skimmed until she caught the sight of fur, then she crept forward, making her steps known. The soft whine rolled out of her throat in greeting first, in attempt not to invoke a feared response. "It's okay, sweetheart, it's just a little thunder..."

Another flash of lightning made him curl into a tighter ball squeezing his eyes shut and trying to calm himself down. He hated storms to begin with and to not have his mother nearby made everything worse. He was lost and had no clue what he should do. He had yet to fully learn how to live because his mother had never taught it, Now he was alone and feared he would die if his mother would not return to him. Whining again Kita opened his eyes and looked to the entrance, the pouring rain so loud that he couldn't hear an approach. He couldn't hear, couldn't smell, and couldn't see all that well which didn't calm his fears at all. Then there was a whine just outside of the hole he was hiding in. His ears perked at the pitch, a females and sounded so similar to his mother's. Then a soft calming voice tickled his ears as she tried to sooth him.
Lifting himself up he curiously poked his head out from the hole. Looking around until his eyes landed on the grey female. She was not his mother, but she didn't seem to be of threat either. He was torn, unsure if he should trust her, but to scared not to run to her for comfort. He crawled from the hole, somewhat cowering. Fearing she would turn and not be a nice stranger.
"I can't find my momma," he whined

The she wolf knew she was forced to observe what was in front of her. Patience was evident until the little fuzzy bundle, younger than she first would have assumed, appeared. Oh heavens, he was just a baby! Her heart clenched and once again she sniffed the air when her head raised faintly, attempting to gain something out of the moment. Surely the female was not too far away? But the wary reasoning in her mind said something was bad, and she needed to stay vigilant.
Body tucked to the ground, and his eyes washed over the features that were standing there before her. The mottled female with her wet coat offered up a bit of sympathy, her eyes gentled as she crept toward him. "Have you been here long, sweetheart?” His crying had been fairly endless. What mother would leave someone out in weather like this, with such a heart wrenching cry? The female bowed her head, and she sighed deeply.
The suspicion boiled up within in her, not trying to be too intimidating as she crawled forward. Reaching out with just her muzzle, she sniffed the pup and restlessly licked the top of her head. Tail swished from one side to the other tentatively, "My name is Yana.” Her words announced, offering something that would be a show of comfort. She was not about to intimidate him, "It’s kind of wet out here… would you like to come into the trees with me?” Curiosity poured out of his mouth, making the words seem less concerned than she actually was.
That was the best she could offer for now. Her eyes blinked at him owlishly, and she offered him a wolfish grin. She was not trying to be malicious, but her tail wagged determinedly. It would be less dangerous if they scurried back to the trees. Perhaps in the morning she would scout for something, some sign of his mother. On the other hand, her mind wandered to where her small cache of tiny critters were. Food for him would be her first priority, no doubt.
ooc:| @country, No worries! We all have those days.

His ocean blue eyes looked around for any sign of his mother, while his ears remained flat on his head from the cold rain. He couldn't understand why she wouldn't come back. Had something bad happened to her? Was she dead? He whined again now worried for her safety. He was getting more upset by each thought that ran through his young mind. Shifting his legs, moving in place, and constantly looking around he grew more nervous. What would he do without her. She hadn't even taught him to hunt yet. He wouldn't survive, he would die without her. He began to shake lightly as his thoughts continued to spiral through his mind. It frightened him all the more. Then the female's words snapped him from his thoughts and his eyes looked to her. He tried to think, rattling his brain to figure out when she had set him down to the present time. It was rather difficult to say considering the dark storm clouds hid what time of day it truly was. Giving another look around he still had no idea how long he had been alone. He whimpered slightly as he looked back to the female.
"I don't know I was asleep most of the travel and even when momma set me down up until it started to storm..... I don't know how long," he replied as he hung his head.
He watched her crawl forward and his little body tensed up a bit. He was still unsure if she was a friend or a foe. No matter if she was being kind to him she could still be a evil soul. When she began to restlessly lick his head, he couldn't help but melt into her comforting touch. His tail wagging, he moved closer to her his soaked body cold and he wanted warmth and the comfort that she was beginning to show him. Looking to her again as she spoke, listening to her words. She spoke of her name and getting out of the rain. Suddenly he realized that he was still shaking, that he was still freezing and wet. Moving closer to the female he nodded ever so slightly.
"Kita and yes please," he asked his tail wagging lightly.

Getting out of the cold weather was the last thing that could have been expected, but there was a need for it now that she had stumbled upon the pup. Her mind already reeled with the concept she would have to keep him if there was no sign of his mother. She was hardly about to abandon him to the hopeless atmosphere, andher tongue flicked over her lips with the brief show of anxiety. It was unthinkable that someone would abandon him.
Sympathy shined in her eyes as he explained the intent behind his little journey. Well, it had been worth a shot in asking, but ultimately the female was not surprised over the fact he was unsure about the reasoning he was where he was. Her head bowed, and she managed to offer the faintest of smiles. Well, they could get through the trees. It would be the shortest path back to her thicket.
"No need to worry, Kita." Soft voice tumbled off her lips, although her heart was breaking. She leaned down and rubbed her nose against his faintly, then body twisted. Attempting to get herself away through the grasses, making sure the pup stayed at her side. If she needed to pick him up, she would; but she suspected he could make the short little walk. Then they could sleep, and evaluate what to do in the morning.
"I'll look after you." Promise in her voice was heavy in her tones, "Regardless of what happens." Her head bobbed softly, making sure she shadowed him from the rain as best as she could, shaking her head in disbelief. Colds nights were one thing, ones that changed everything were just unforgettable.
