Fall weather seemed to be quite average almost like Spring. Once in awhile you would get a nice day, but then some days it was a bit chilly. As winter was approaching fall was starting to drop down in degrees as each day pass by. Of course this meant several creatures by now were preparing for the bitter winter that was sure to come.
Laying near the blue water was what seemed to be a pile of white fur that stuck out like a sore thumb. Dark grey eyes could be seen peering into the water as short ears twitched lightly. Fallen, the she wolf was quite ready for winter to come as she was tired of sticking out when she came to Crowberry lake. Inching closer to the lake in an army crawl position, she then reach her neck passed her paws and drunk some water. Everything seemed to be silent and she enjoyed it knowing it wouldn't last for too long as every wolf was bound to get hungry and come for the fish.
Once getting the refreshment, she laid her head down on her paws seeing as she lacked the social skills to gain friends. She wasn't much of a talker and to gain friends talking seemed to be a key part...
'Maybe.. I should work on it a bit.' She thought as her gaze went back to the lack.

» For once Tree Rat was well and truly tired of being dirty. It wasn't really his fault, when you live in a river delta its hard not to be continually coated in pretty stinky mud. Still, it didn't exactly make a good impression on the new members floating in. The one problem was that there wasn't really anywhere to swim just for fun in his land. Oh, there was plenty of swimming. Swimming to travel, Swimming to hunt, Swimming to escape the tidal floods. But all of that left you even dirtier than before, and what clear water there was in his territory were fall to valuable as drinking and hunting grounds for him to dirty up with his filthy self. Besides, it had been months since he had left the Rock River Delta, ever since.. No. No. No. Nope. He had made a promise to himself that he wouldn't think about such dark things on such a beautiful day and if you can't keep a promise to yourself than who can you keep one to?
» The tall, lean wolf wolf trotted confidently through the thick vegetation that was only now beginning to turn orange and yellow as fall approached. It had been a mild summer, all he could hope for was a mild winter as well. The past few weeks had been especially good for Tree Rat. The salmon ran in the early fall, and the only way to the streams where they would give birth and die was right through Tree Rat's home. He had grown almost fat off the delicious fish and his coat had gone from dull to practically glowing with health. It was hard, and stupid, not to gorge on the food while it was around, so even now Rat's stomach was tight and slightly distended. Yes, salmon made a very good meal. With his renewed strength and the peaceful nature of Crowberry Lake there really wasn't much he was worried about. Sure, he might encounter a lazy black bear, but they were getting slow and lazy as winter came closer. Tree Rat's step was light and joyous as he caught his first sight of the gleaming lake. Soon he would be clean! gloriously clean!
» Unable to help himself the male wolf broke into a run, clearing fallen logs and short bushes with hardly even a second glance. He was built for running and his long legs had him at the water's edge in just a few moments time. Some wolves who hadn't grown up around water might have hesitated and tested the waters slowly, but Tree Rat just culminated his mad dash with a might leap, sending waves of water splashing everywhere. Immediately caked on mud began to float away, creating a rather disgusting cloud of filth in the previously clear depths. Luckily he had jumped out far enough that most of it wouldn't reach the shore. There, a handy excuse to explain his exuberance, not that anyone had seen - oh. A small white she-wolf seemed to cower at the edge of the lake. Hopefully not from him!"Hello there!" He grinned and began to walk back toward the shore, shaking his large ruff of fur in an attempt to loose some of the water weight. "I hope I didn't startle you! The name's Tree Rat. I was just so eager to be clean.." The male halted away from the shore, his feet still barely covered by the water, and glanced back ruefully. "As you can see, I was quite disgusting."

Short ears perked at the new voice, it was true she was caught off guard by the splash of water, but she didn’t seem to show how phased she was. Her gaze left the water towards the male and she shook her head in response.
“Greetings, and no you didn’t.” She responded back as she pulled herself from where she laid and sat up properly. “Pleasure to meet you Tree Rat, I’m Fallen Angel and don’t worry about as I tend to be the same way.” She replied back as she followed his gaze. Of course she understand how muddy it could get when winter started to turn into spring. She hated the transition as it always meant that everywhere you would go there was sure to be mud everywhere. It always covered every inch of the land and her pure white coat would turn into a light brown due to all her walk from point A to point B.
“I’ll know I will be dealing with it once winter is over.” She spoke out a tad bit quite, but none less she was sure the brute could hear her. Even so she could image the filth condition she would be and she suppressed a shiver at the thought. She wasn’t a fan of being dirty and it would probably be the reason why she hardly travel anywhere else in Somerset along with the fact nowhere else seemed to be as cold as the Northern parts. After all, her coat was thick all year round and traveling around in unknown places well it wouldn’t work out for her.
“Uh so Tree rat I haven’t seen you around these parts often… hmm so are you part of a pack or something?” She asked him trying to keep the conversation ball rolling. She wasn’t the best, but at least it could get the conversation somewhere instead of a heavy silence.

» To be totally honest, Tree Rat hadn't been out of the Delta very much. Until very recently he had been the beta, and most of his duties had required him to remain the land's borders. Now, as Alpha, he should probably be bound to the same strictures but with such a tiny (non-existent) pack, he wasn't really worried about it. Most of the wolves he'd seen had been around the same size as himself. Sure, some were great hulky monsters and Tree Rat was a little abnormally tall for a grey wolf, but he had never seen a wolf as small as this one. Even better she was absolutely covered in fluffy white fur. The little streak of grey on her back almost made her look more fox than wolf. Tree Rat found himself absolutely fascinated. From her words he could surmise that she thought he was predominantly clean - for a creature traveling from lands of ice and snow that made sense. Tree Rat snicked inwardly and wished the she-wolf could see the way he rolled endlessly in mud pits when he was at home. Otters and beavers were clever prey, and you needed good camouflage.
» Tree Rat moved out of the water and casually settled with a heavy thump next to the little wolf. Not only did she seem like a nice wolf, she was also likely to have very interesting reactions to his tales of endless mud. He was almost half a foot taller than her at the shoulder. Even though his build was lean for a grey wolf, his shaggy, sleek coat of grey and orange fur made him look a little more intimidating than he was. Any chance of him looking like a threat was totally diminished by the way he slumped, sitting on one hip with the ragged stump of his tail curled around his haunches. He let her talk on for a while, watching her small form in fascination. The only thing he could think of was imagining her trying to swim around in the swamp waters, her voluminous coat clinging to her frame, weighed down by water that would turn her a dingy brown. As she asked if he came from a distant land Tree Rat couldn't contain himself and let out a loud laugh. The land he had been born in was so incredibly different from her's that it might as well be a different world. "I suppose you could say that Angel. I'm the Alpha of the Delta pack, where we have mud all year long. I'm afraid I decieved you if you think I'm naturally clean. My territory is so filthy that even in the winter we really only get slush instead of snow." Tree Rat halted for a moment, wrinkling his nose in exaggerated confusion. "I'm not really sure why I live there, to be honest." That was just to humor her. Tree Rat stayed in his home because his heart was buried in the mud. His family had lived there ever since they had begged a blessing from Her and they would stay there until the last of his family's blood had been soaked into the mud. It had almost happened, he was the last of his family alive. When he died would that be the end of all She had promised? "Where are you from little Angel?"

The noticeable size different didn’t pass the gaze of her, but it was odd seeing him up closer now. Compared to her he seemed like the size of an elk as an exaggeration she would kindly put after all, she was used to wolves being smaller and more compact. Even so it worked well for the clean environment she lived within after all, she could image how much harder it would be living up north as the size of Tree Rat. She couldn’t help, but compare the two of them and of course it wouldn’t take much to tell the two were from different parts of Somerset, eve a pup could tell. Even so it seemed two worlds would be crashing into each other as her ears perked up as he spoke up.
“Slush instead of snow? I couldn’t image a place not getting the elegance of drifting snow, but I guess I shouldn’t be so closed minded. I guess I’m just so used to the Northern part that it slips my mind of the other regions that dwell in Somerset.” She lightly spoke up as she glanced down at the pile of wet fur, and suppressed a chuckle. Most large wolves gave an intimidating air, but seeing him like this made her more at ease than ever and of course it was slightly funny in ways.
“Home is where the heart lies after all.” She added at the end of his little humor after all, it was mainly true. Her heart was set on snow and ice so she stayed north. It was where she belonged and what she had been made for.
“I come from the North actually. I bet it’s a bit easy to tell due to my lack in size and coat color, but I guess it’s just the way of surviving the bitter temperatures. I just roam about the land, and once in a while I come out here to get a drink and maybe get in the water for a quick swim.” She explained toward him with a slight chuckle.
"It might be odd, but I'm not much of a swimmer, but I guess it's from being the North. Just take one little swim and you could end up getting sick quicker then anything."
