Nico
Head ducked as he slipped into the wet ground. The snow had offered the earth a reprieve for a little bit, and he was grateful for the change of atmosphere. His mind merely boggled with the notion that he needed to convey his words to Xanthus. Yes, he needed to tell his twin of the development that had occurred, something he had never expected. Not only did the pack of hell seem to be taking place on the lawful Coast, but the leader appeared to be a possible relative.
The mere notion had him wanting to choke on his tongue, but he would never been able to deny the pleasure that he would see on his brother’s face. Yes! This was something that had to be well accomplished, and the results would be swift. Oh, of course they would have to go and investigate. The very notion played on his mind, flipping and flopping as he felt the burning sensation in the heart. This could be a good thing, or it could be very bad.
Nose lifted to the air, and he continued on his trail. Confidence was etched into his features, mouth twisted into a bit of a smirk. Yes, the male was a wanderer, but it was an oddity to be without his brother so long. The winter was rich upon them, but they had lucked out for the time being. Head inclined as the wind hit him from the side, and the crisp smell laced his nose.
Winter was forever one of his favourite times of year. He knew it killed more than he could have ever guessed, and something in that fact itself was special. Nicostratos was proud of his heritage, he knew the value that could be had in breathing. Every day it was another step, another reason to be alive. That in the fact was there was more to life than certainly just him and his brother. The thought alone was enough to confound him, and the half smile played on his features.
Chaos was the game he forever desired to play, and his heart tugged with the reminder. The little female had not been as frightened of him in the end, but there was something to be said that his possible relative - the self proclaimed King of the Coast, could even begin to terrify someone! Perhaps the beast was magnificent, perhaps he was everything the twins aspired to. Did it really matter in the end?
He froze cold in his tracks, idly noting the moose tracks in the snow. The bears were slumbering, and it would be fun to return back toward the delta. Find his way back into the caves and take the throats of more bears, although their dreary sleep state was never quite as fun. But a moose? His orange gaze stared at the ground for a few long moments, before he walked over the trail. If needed, it could be double backed on. It would be something to spend the time playing with, one supposed.
They would likely need to run off some steam anyway, Xanthus and himself, by the time this conversation was completed.

HANNIBAL // lektor Black nails sunk into the ground as the two brutes bound across the landscape, kicking up dirt in their wake. Strides in tandem, with every powerful stretch of their legs, they covered an immense amount of ground.Older brother, Hannibal, fur white as the snow that had only recently stopped falling, lead the younger, Lektor, fur black, white and gray like burnt land. Through the brush they went, the water of Crowberry Lake before them. They stopped just short of the water's edge.
"It's here...", Lektor spoke, voice gruff through his labored breathing.
The white smoke of their breaths could be seen against the white sky. Hannibal lifted his head drawing the air in with one deep inhale. He smelled it too. he scanned the horizon before his gaze fell upon his brother. He was a little ways away now, the black tips of his ears just visible above the tall grass. He was the tracker, the more rugged one. Leave it to him, alone, to run down a moose and gorge happily. That would be the outcome if Hannibal didn't hurry along. Lektor was a glutton.
Still panting, nostils flaring in the way that he smelled the air, Hannibal followed.
They were in a fervent search for food. Even the smaller of the two brothers was larger than the average wolf and his brother was even far larger than he. They were big eaters and needed to do it often. With winter killing everything there was to get teeth on, they were feeling a squeeze. Mice and rodents didn't cut it. Too much digging involved. Moose; one would be more than enough for the both of them if they could just find the fucking thing.
"Hannibal..."
His brother's voice brought the white wolf from inside his mind. The hunger was weighing on him. What a feeling for someone to feel. As Hannibal had lingered, Lektor had moved away again. The elder brother moved to the black wolf's side. What he saw pleased him. Tracks. They were finally getting some where.
"We'll follow them." his instruction was obvious but he nodded for Lektor to go first, "Go."
The larger brute started off at a trot, tracking, jowls parted as he ran. He drooled. He was so hungry, he couldn't stop thinking about eating until he caught something else on the wind. Lektor slowed, red eyes narrowing. Hannibal stopped beside him as well.
"There's another." he stated, walking forward.
He was the emissary so, in this, he took the lead. He held his head high, determined eyes forward. Lektor's head was low as he stalked just behind his brother, lips curled mencingly. He always seemed just on the verge of ripping something to shreds.
notes -- Wasn't sure what I should've done here so I kinda just set it so that Nico would see the brothers as they followed the tracks furhter. If I should add on to it just message me.

Nico
The scent was on the air, and it brought him to a point where he felt the hunger as it boiled through him. His mouth quirked at the comfort in knowing he would see his brother, soon. It was so much and oddity, but the pair were successful on their own. Sometimes it was deemed necessary to gather information, life seemed forever intent to make sure they were prepared for whatever trial might come to face the pair.
Like other wolves, the male froze with the realization that there was something behind him. Narrowed orange-red eyes glowed as he twisted around, following the quiet tracking. To see others was not a shock to his system, but at the same time it annoyed him. Nico, for the most part, was not the well spoken one. Instead he was more often a troublesome little reach.
His eyes fell over the night and day pair, and he almost laughed. Well, this was what he and Nico should have been, a merry little pair that looked like they were meant to be together. Instead, the pair of them looked like they were hungry to rip one another apart most of the time. It was a pittance, but the inverted grey wolf noted absently, not a shock to the system. He was still bigger than the pair, though they were quite satisfactory to his eyes. They looked capable, thus could be interesting.
It was why he allowed his course to be diverted, a shock when his brother was so fiercely on his mind. His paws followed his nose and the motions that took him going forward, the curiosity in his eyes. Who were they and what was their purpose? Were they a risk to his good behaviour that he sported with him the past few weeks? Crunching gingerly in the snow, the wolfish grin laced his features. Oh, he hoped they were trouble! Nico loved himself some time for trouble.
It was hard not to show his emotions as they rolled over his features, impulse caused him to cry out. "Brothers!" Amusement rattled him, tail swished behind him in a show of pleasure. "Moose a-trackin' are we now? Such a lovely day for it, too!"

HANNIBAL // lektor Annoyance -- almost as soon as this wolf opened his mouth. Both brothers felt it and expressed it in different ways. Hannibal's expression did not falter, the only sign he was at all affected being the slight twitch of an ear. Lektor was different. The stranger's playful attitude was met with pure aggression on the part of the ash colored brute. Lektor gave a mighty roar of a snarl, red eyes sharp, looking to kill.
Hannibal held his place, eyes half lidded in mild amusement with how hostile his brother was. He watched his twin circle around behind the other wolf. It was a little habit they had, surrounding their prey. Something told Hannibal that tactic wouldn't phase this guy. The white wolf blinked passively. Something about the stranger seemed familiar. Not only in look ,but in the way he spoke, the timbre of his voice, the swagger with which he carried himself. What wolf did he remind Hannibal of? Now about would be the time Hannibal and Lektor would commit homicide in the most gruesome manner but the elder brother was now intrigued.
"Peace, Lektor." he spoke firmly.
Lektor didn't stop prowling and snarling as he did, pacing back and forth in agitation at being called off. He didn't want his stupid brother's stupid plans getting in the way of his meal. For all Lektor cared, they could eat this idiot between them. Would certainly be enough to go around with how massive he was. But Lektor kept all these thoughts to himself. Maybe Hanni had some sort of plan. All he did was give a little 'hmph'. He could tell their company now had Hannibal's full attention.
Hannibal put on a little fake grin as he was apt to do, relaxing his posture a little bit.
"I suppose." Hannibal drawled, "It's bloody cold but a day is what you make it."
He spoke a bit off offhandedly. At the same time, he was taking in other aspects of his surrounding. On the wind remained the scent of the moose, it was close by. Then there was this wolf and, faintly, another thing, Hannibal couldn't make it out yet.
"You trying to find yourself a meal?"

Nico
There was something in the pair that he forced himself to bear witness to, the way they interacted. His eyes raised with surprise when he heard the words of the white one, and his wolfish grin turned on the one who was attempting to intimidate him. Oh, he noted every step, and the ripple rolled through him just like a shot of pleasure to the system. As if the male was about to roll over and moan in glee while he got the wolf who attempted to woo him to scratch his belly. Oh, how he loved a good game! They were players, it was clear by the communication that bounced back and forth, it was almost better worked between the two of them as it did between Xanthus and himself.
Mouth twisted at the 'heel' command that was issued, and his head tipped back absently. Oh, Xanthus was going to like this beauty. A rich white. Perhaps they could take turns preening one another! The mere thought had the wolfish grin blossoming on his features again, tail swaying. Head cocked to the side, and his eyes glanced back to meet the hungry gaze of the darker wolf with the piercing eyes, "Not to worry, Lektor, we can dance once your brother gives the green light if you like."
Approval laced in his tone, even as he twisted his body to take a step to the side, unconcerned with the pair wanting to play. Even if he became injured, hell! There seemed to be a whole block of his kin around. Whether or not there would ever communicate without bloodshed would be another thing. Sympathetic eyes turned back to Hannibal, and he scoffed merrily. "Blood looks prettier in the snow." Words reminded the pair, as if he were confident they would already know the fact that he offered. "Which makes it beautiful in the eyes of a madman such as I."
"A meal would be a treasure." Acknowledgement caused him to incline his head faintly, there was no need to be rude. He was attempting to be well behaved in his brother's absent. He would be cuffed, most assuredly, otherwise over the head. But his interest kept going back to the other wolf, and his lip curled in taunt in return, tail swishing with delight. "Bear from the delta and seal from the seas are a bitter meal for a wolf."
"I'm sure you'll agree, my friends." He preened over the fact he had earned such attention, his eyes danced with the merriment of it all. Still, something made him pull back to look at the white wolf. The control was in the jaws of the other, but he wagered it would be a fun tussle in the snow with the dark one. Perhaps they could have a good little spar - post meal? "We who take the walk of brotherhood in our lives often should accomplish so much more than the so called rulers of their lonesome."
There, he had announced a warning. His brother would be showing up - it was a gesture of friendship; In Nico's mind anyway, giving away that boundary line of backup was a sweet tone on his part. Usually he was the one who hid away and waited, Xanthus looked a little more innocent.

HANNIBAL // lektor What a guy! Flashing him, Lektor, that fucking grin. And the way his name was disrespectfully spat from his mouth. Lektor's fur stood on end with rage. Hannibal was really fucking lucky that there was such a bond of obedience between them. Otherwise, he'd have been chowing down on this guy by now. Lektor snorted, twisted grin putting those razor sharp pearly whites on display. He opened his mouth, some smark remark just itching to roll off the tongue but Hannibal beat him to speech with a glance.
Hannibal looked to Lektor for a moment. His eyes urged the brute to calm, there was an advantage to be had here. Either party alone might be able to apprehend the beast. It would be the competition that would kill them. Hannibal wasn't one to put his life on the line for another's stomach. Regardless of what he thought about the stranger, it would be wise for them to work with one another, not against. As if by some telepathy, Lektor got the memo and calmed down, black fur gradually laying back flat over his bulk. He still hated this guy -- whoever he was. The snarl slid from his maw and he settled instead for a pointed glare, never taking his eyes off the one now at their side.
Additionally, it was now out in the open the fact that a fourth would be joining their little conference. The more the merrier, Hannibal supposed. Lektor didn't appreciate the news as much, he was hungry enough to eat all these wolves.
"You have a brother as well -- quaint." Hannibal said in clarification, "Perhaps he's the one I know because you do look so familiar."
It still escaped him just exactly what or who he was familiar to.
"Lektor, Doesn't he look familiar?"
His brother responded with a grunt that Hannibal took to be an answer in the negative.
"Quit staring at his throat for a moment and look properly." Hannibal grinned and laughed lightly.
"Don't want to. Why the fuck should I care?"
Lektor was just being a child now. Hannibal rolled his eyes.
"And how do you wager your dance moves are?" Lektor smirked again, raising his head, "Would you still be able to dance without a head?"

Nico
Nico was a morbid creature, his mouth crinkling in mockery as he watched the outrage. Oh, he shifted possibly enough to keep his eyes on the pair of them at the same time, but his attention was turned Lektor. Oh, he liked Lektor. The male was clearly out of his element playing with someone who had a sense of humour, so the three year old male dropped his front end with a violent thump. He was bulkier than he was tall, although he was still fairly tall, and he offered a grunt of play in the direction of the dark wolf. Yes, he was a dangerous little creature to be fooled around with.
There was something arrogant in his actions, but what would have been the point of fearing death? Besides, his thought trails had gone the general direction that Hannibal's had. It would be much more affective for them to work together, but that hardly meant he was going to back off. Mocking the other brother who was on a hair trigger, like Nico was with the right word triggers or intent, was funny. It was like seeing himself talking to Tree Nut - frog, whatever - and his eyes were intent on the dark wolf.
"Xanthus will be delighted to make your acquaintance, beautiful white fella." His eyes took another long moment to make sure the dark bulk was not going to snap in reaction, but then he looked to Hannibal. Nico was naughty, there was no doubt about that. But there was a pleasure in being given the right to play, to be nasty in his abilities. So his head dropped, "I am Nicostratos, by the way. You'd be welcome to offer yours, if it so pleases you." Slightly more respectful, oh, how proud his brother would have been!
He looked like someone they knew? Well that was uncomfortable. His mouth pulled down into a frown for a few moments, then turned his attention back to the male. He puppy-growled, although it shocked his ears how stupid it spoke in his ears. Oh, Nico was not ready to fight, but he was so hopeful anyway; perhaps they would be permitted. Perhaps they would wound one another in a few places. But no, they would wait until Xanthus came along to elicit some play.
"My twin would pity missing a good hunt, sirs." His eyes snapped back to the happy question posed, without his head! Laughter bellowed into the air, and the male offered a look of concern. "I won't be losing my head, my friend! I might tickle your taste buds - you look a little quicker than me..." The male wanted to play some, just a little, so his paws wandered toward the dark male. He half circled, before giving a healthy, rich once over.
"Not as tasty as your brother looks - but I understand the pain." Sympathetic voice humored himself, "But I bet I'll get a nice chunk out of you too when we play, my handsome creature."

The sturdy male loped easily along the water's edge, the snow muffling his footfalls. He had crossed his brother's tracks quite by chance earlier that day, and had altered course to follow them. They'd been separated for too long, and it was high time them caught up with each other. Nico had ways of getting about, and two sets of ears always heard more than one. A thin film of ice lay over the lake, a milky grey that reflected the dull sky overhead. Winter had fallen with a vengeance, and hunger was gnawing at his belly. Not that he would ever admit the fact. He was still well-muscled and a good portion of fat lay beneath his dark grey pelt. Winter wasn't about to bring him to his grave yet, that was for sure, but it had been a while since he'd been on a proper hunt. Finding his brother would aid in some proper sport. Murdering bears in their sleep for their precious alpha was hardly fun at all.
Xanthus moved away from the lake, following his brother's tracks and noting the scent of moose on the air. Even better. Deer were pup's play for the two of them anyway. Now a handsome young bull moose was an entirely different story. His mouth watered at the very thought when new information filtered into his awareness. New tracks. Two wolves of similar scents. Brothers. He didn't slow his pace, but his golden eyes sharpened, scanning the whiteness with a great intensity. Nico was more than capable of handling two wolves...even two strong males as the scents suggested. But still, being the more sensible of the two of them, he felt it his duty to make sure the broader male didn't damage too many relations. It wasn't long before he caught sight of the little gathering, small specks on the horizon, and he took a moment to assess the wind. Slowing to a springy trot, he slipped to the side so he was downwind of the party and thankfully heading towards what was unmistakably Nico's shape. That would mean the two strangers wouldn't see him until he announced himself...provided Nico didn't blow his cover and kept the two males entranced.
He forged ahead, moving his bulk with a stealth borne of much practice. Pricked ears caught snippets of the conversation as he grew closer and he couldn't help but smirk at the tone of Nico's voice. Oh, his brother was having fun! His suspicions were confirmed when Nico dropped into a playful bow, his words ringing clearly across the snow-covered landscape. He slowed to a walk, his gait smooth and regal as he glided towards the little congregation. As he did so, he took in the darker wolf, whose posture spoke volumes about his thoughts on meeting Nico. Xanthus made a mental note to keep an eye on that one. The white wolf was definitely the more sensible of the two, though tension lined his shoulders too. Whether from keeping his brother in check, or keeping an eye on Nico, Xanthus couldn't tell. Goodness knew he was experienced enough in the efforts required to keep a slightly crazed sibling in line.
"Indeed. It would be a great pity if you were to have all the fun and leave me with a cold spleen and hoof to feast on"
he drawled by way of introduction, seamlessly slipping into the conversation at Nico's comment. His lips twisted up at his brother's taunting words, golden eyes resting on the darker wolf with veiled amusement. The two of them would certainly need to spar it out. "I wager Nico has already spoken all the introductions, but I feel I ought to clarify, just to be certain."
He paused for the barest of moments before his smooth tunes danced from his lips once more. "I am Xanthus, the brains of our little operation."
He quirked a grin at his brother, strolling blithely around the two strangers until he stood beside his brother - their two damaged ears facing one another.

HANNIBAL // lektor "What the fuck...?", was the only phrase that came into Lektor's mind.
The last thing he wanted to do was play with this idiot. The dusky colored brute made a face. Lektor had "played" with another wolf ever in his life. His father had made it very clear play was not a thing Krov did. Hell, Lektor didn't even know how to. He went from angry to confused and annoyed, hovering somewhere in that zone. His red eyes looked to Hannibal but his brother wasn't really interested in the scene before him. What a laugh he'd have gotten if he'd seen.
Hannibal stared all around because he just got this feeling something was coming. Whether it be that other brother or that beast of a moose, something was in the air. What Lektor's new little friend said brought him back, though. He held himself just that much higher, shifting slightly on his long, ivory legs, to properly face Nico with that haughty grin of his, red eyes sparkling. He so did love compliments.
Lektor rolled his eyes, grunting. Like Hannibal's ego needed to be stroked. He might transcend from sheer belief in his god-like status alone. His brother was silly in that way.
"Krov." Hannibal said in his dainty, soft spoken way, "Hannibal. You know the name of my brother already."
Lektor frowned and grunted again. It seemed the only speech he was capable of now. He rolled his eyes after, wishing Nicostratus would just shut up. Hannibal saw how this wolf perplexed his brother, it seemed his kin could deal with nothing but aggression when it came to interacting with other wolves. He laughed at his dear brother.
Lektor didn't see the amusement, eyes tracking Nico as he stalked about him. Lektor whirled around all at once, nose to nose with Nico, wiked grin on his face.
"I reckon you're on the menu for seconds, Nicostratus." he chuckled, maybe the other was growing on him after all. He offered his version of a friendly smile which looked more like a malicious smirk. It was gone with a blink as a new wolf loped onto the scene.
Lektor and his brother turned toward him. Suspicion was on the younger's face as he back up to stand closer to his brother and Hannibal's eyes lifted with something like curiosity at this being the other brother.
"Krov." they said at the same time, not missing a beat.
"Lektor."
"Hannibal. Charmed, Xanthus. We've been awaiting your arrival."
Hannibal stepped closer, Lektor not far behind, until they were all huddled in a bit of a circle.
"Now that we're all here." he cooed, "Shall we get to it?"

Nico
Nico knew that he was having fun, he was enjoying himself to the core. The look of confusion on the features of the male that he had struck out for a friendship with - well, an annoyanceship with, did Nico even have friends? - seemed unable to grasp the concept. Well, that was something that was going to be reworked properly, there was no such fun in being ruthless if there was no joy in it. The ever so important purpose was to rip and shred the body parts of others and take a selfish glee in the manner, not to sulk like a mere pup about not getting things as desired.
Paws kneaded the ground as his head cocked to the side, his laughter choked the air as the realization side cracked him across the face. Well, the male did have a bit of humor as the threat laced the air. The shocked look on his features warmed though, even as he considered taking a step too far. Oh, he could picture the mere reaction he would be saddled with if he licked the other's nose. But would it be worth it?
Perhaps better into their new relationship, their brotherly fun, Nico scolded himself. Not that he could very well turn on a dime, and the four could have a flourishing fight. But until Xanthus came -- ah, well there was the wolf. Torn ear barely twitched at the sound of the heavy steps, but he was more delighted to watch Lektor. How fascinating! He was an absolute doll; something scrumptious to try and pick apart piece by piece.
By the time he glanced to Xanthus, then back, all his progress seemed to be at a loss. The childish look of displeasure crossed Nico's face, even as Xanthus made his grand entrance. Head cocked to the side, and his mouth twisted as he offered a wry look to his brother. Nico was behaving, there was no immediate threat of bloodshed. Why! It was a reason to celebrate, Nico had surpassed all expectations.
"We're going moose stomping." Happy voice sung, his eyes sparkling, "Want to see if I can get my lungs collapsed or something by the sort? I want to rip a part of his face off as a souvenir of my new friendship with Lektor." Eyes turned back to the dark wolf in question, tail wagging delightedly. Did he care if the feeling was not returned? Hardly at all, but the giddiness was turning quickly to something else.
Hunger.

He dipped his head in polite acknowledgement of their names, noting with a wry twist of his lips how well choreographed the pair of them were. Why, even in speech they read each other's thoughts! Or at last they'd rehearsed their little introductory skit often enough to play it out to perfection. Considering that Nico hadn't murdered the two on sight indicated that these brothers were likely to indulge in at least a little bit of bloodshed. That, in turn, begged the question whether Misters Black and White could act in synchrony as well as they spoke. Privately, Xanthus was quite convinced that he and Nico would make the better pair. Simply because they had done so ever since day one. It felt more right for them to be together, than it did for them to be apart.
His brow crinkled a little mockingly at the pale wolf's words. Why, did Hannibal really think that he'd relinquish to reins quite so readily? Without there being anything more than a pretty face and pleasant words to go by? It took his considerable self-restraint not to sneer in reply, letting Nico's words ease the tension in his chest. "Why, we can certainly get to it" he answered silkily, only the barest hint of mockery in his tone as he emulated Hannibal. Lektor was being surprisingly quiet, and Xanthus wondered whether he was plotting something or simply better at acting than speaking. In all honesty, he didn't mind the silence. It gave him space and time to assess Hannibal, who was more likely to be his rival. It chafed at him that there was another set of brothers out there that seemed to operate so much like him and Nico. The sensible, smooth-talking thinker with the slightly crazed brother for the dirty work. Still, at least he and Nico were special for one thing only - they were Zarek's offspring.
He took careful note to the wind, his nostrils flickering as he dissected the scent of the bull moose from the other perfumes on the air. "The herd will have travelled north-easterly towards the sheltered edge of the lake" he informed the gathering sternly, golden eyes resting on each wolf in turn. He disliked his missions not turning out perfectly...and woe unto him who spoiled this one. "Consequently, we shall follow them until the land falls into a shallow dip. That will give us a good vantage point, and we can decide on the details once we've got our eye on the bull." He paused, giving his companions a brief moment to ask any questions. Once he was assured that no-one was going to cause more trouble than they were worth, he gave a brisk nod. "In that case, good hunting." Without further ado, he turned neatly on his haunches, and took up the tracks that Nico had found earlier.

HANNIBAL // lektor What was that there? Hannibal thought to himself.
Hannibal was neither particular friendly nor particularly aggressive. He hovered in apathy in every situation. It took something to push him one way or the other. In Xanthus's reply was something he didn't like. He didn't want to be assuming, very often it was a wolf's way to be patronizing and it be nothing personal. Hannibal could not kid himself, though. It was always personal to him.
His heart beat with restrained venom. They'd play nice for as long as Hannibal was in need in the brother's help. His red eyes simply rest upon Xanthus, as hard and unreadable as ever. He didn't want to give anything way. Alas, his ear did give a slight twitch. It was a bad habit.
Patiently brothers Hannibal and Lektor listened. In the very least, this brute's thinking was sound. Lektor's gaze edge to his brother's form for just a moment, shocked and slightly confused as to why he was just sitting there. The wolf wasn't sure what he should do exactly as he and Hannibal had never really been one in the same in being told what to do. Did Hannibal agree? Lektor needed some sort of verbal reassurance that the plans of this wolf would be theirs as well. He was suspicious and, quite frankly, doubted anyone that was not his brother. Further, Lektor could tell that something about Hannibal was tense. He always held himself like he was some sort of porcelain statue but, now, he seemed as rigid as stone.
Lektor passed his tongue over his muzzle, bits of frost coming off on his tongue. He'd listen. It's not like he had any bright ideas of his own.
The two set there until the new brother had stopped talking. They didn't move out right away. They had to share a glance through which all thoughts seemed to be transferred. Hannibal nodded and Lektor stood first, Hannibal after. Then, all at once, they moved, running ahead in the direction of the tracks.
"Don't they just make you sick?" was Lektor's remark about the pair.
"In the most endearing way possible." Hannibal responded dryly, "They are my favorites so far, in some ways. We shall keep in league with them."
Hannibal and Lektor did not look back to see if the other two were following. Hannibal assumed they would be, lest the brothers Krov get the better of them.
"Wow, we're actually making friends." Lektor was quite amused with the meeting, laughing to himself as he bounded on.

Nico
As crazed as the big wolf was, Nico could be rather observant in ways that did not go unnoticed. While Hannibal and Xanthus had the distinct pleasure in dealing with the unhinged, Lektor and Nicostratos had to deal with the regally stiff. It was like dealing with an old pair of clucking hens, really. Each male trying to prove he had the loudest crow. Somehow, the fact that there was any competition had the two males on edge. There were not to be outdone, whereas Nico could have cared less.
If Lektor proved to be better than him, that would sit sourly on the edge of his soul. It would not be something he would mourn over though, nor would he be particularly ungraceful about the whole ordeal. No, if it bothered him in such a context to that amount it would just be the choice of the male to slaughter his rival. That would accomplish little, since Nico was delightedly thinking along happier lines. While he adored Xanthus, the more twisted the wolf was the more of a shining Nico could prove to have.
When the agreement was made, Nico yipped and danced on his paws. "Thank the bones of the dead, let's eat before we join them!" His declaration was haughty, but he hung back. Of course he would hang back, let the others go first. The male was a weight in the best sense. Provided he was going to be coming along in the tracks and shoulders rolled, knowing that there was going to be conflict.
In the end, he knew his role that would be had when they made arrangements. Nicostratos, while perhaps not granted the killing blow, would suffice in being the one to take down. He was not as spry as the others looked on his paws, he would be like a bull moose raging through the plains like he was in rut. He was a power to be reckoned with, but he was not the agility champion. A good burst of speed and tackling the moose to the ground would be enough.
Christmas morning had evidently came early for the male, delight in his actions was enough to send him forwards chasing the hungry ghost and goblin that was ready to take first patrol. His tail swished as he fell in at the back of the line, although he kept up well enough. Xanthus was good at handling the drama and politics, Nico was almost childlike in his approach. Screw the concept of being enemies, start off on a better paw. Murder together - not fight to the death.
It seemed so reasonable to him, although he knew the thrill of bloodlust and how poorly it could often be contained. Now, if only he could section off Lektor - yes, Lektor would be his friend. It would bother the male and he would lightly be taken with rejection at first, he was sure. But he would win the fool's gold over! He would take it for what he deserved, another companion who understood him. Somehow, just from the fact Lektor had a brother so much like Xanthus, Nico was confident in his candidate.

It was nice that the Krov brothers had brooked no argument, though Xanthus had seen the look the darker brother had given his paler twin. He supposed it must be difficult, having another brain and thus another voice offering sensible advice and commands. He watched the pair of them set off in direction of the tracks, running his tongue lazily across his lips as he got slowly to his feet. Ah, they were going to have their disagreements, to be sure. A glance at Nico informed him that his brother would be no trouble at all. The black wolf would need to be watched, but the male was fairly sure Hannibal could keep his brother in check. The only real problem would be Hannibal himself. He saw himself and Nico reflected in this new brother pair...and it was going to be more than difficult to find the right balance between leading and being led. Whilst the white wolf may have accepted his authority on the stalking of the moose...he had the distinct feeling Hannibal wasn't going to be meek in all aspects of decision-making. He, for one, certainly wouldn't.
He set himself into motion, thoughts running through his head as he followed the Krov brothers, his ears flicking back at odd intervals to make sure Nico was still with him. Of course his brother was! If there was a hunt on the cards, Nico was the last wolf to get lost or distracted. He settled into a comfortable lope, moving his sturdy body easily though the snow. He would take a step back during the hunt, he decided. He was not yet sure of how much use these brothers might be...so it would be best to give them a thorough assessment. Let Hannibal call the shots on how best to go about bringing down their bull - see how sound his thinking was. He wasn't feeling particularly bloodthirsty at the moment, anyway. Disposing of Tree Rat's bears was keeping that urge nicely quelled for the time being.
It was not long before they reached the crest of the hollow he had spoken about, and he slowed down and came to a standstill beside the white wolf. A little below them, scraping away at the blanket of snow, was their herd. Their bull moose was easily identified - his bulk and youth making him stand out. In a way, it was a bit of a shame to pick off such a healthy specimen, and yet the older moose were too scrawny to feed four hungry wolves. That, and the young one was more likely to put up a good fight...and Xanthus did so like to work for his dinner. "I am happy to drive the herd apart" he murmured softly, keeping his voice low to prevent the moose from discovering their presence. He turned to give Hannibal an appraising look, tilting his head ever so slightly in a gesture of polite deference. Let him take the lead...and see where that would get them. If things went horribly awry, the male was more than confident that he and Nico could rectify the mess.
