HANNIBAL // lektor "This place...it fucking smells."
The entire journey here Hannibal had dealt with very similar statements. Lektor had nothing good to say about Shore Woods. It wasn't that Hannibal held it in better regard, no -- he probably hated this place more than Lektor, he just had nothing to say and no time to waste on petty insults no one could hear.
"If it smells like anything, it should smell like home.", was Hannibal's retort.
"They say home is where the heart is, yeah?" Lektor was setting up for a joke, it was obvious because he laughed then, finding what he said to be quite funny.
"So I've heard.", Hannibal humored.
"Then we're both just fucked."
That drew a laugh out of both of them. Forever cynical, Hannibal and Lektor delighted in their pessimism. Their misery was all they had to hold on to. Because Lektor was right: if home is where the heart is, then they were both just fucked. They had no home, not since they left Shore Woods. Even still, that was not so much a home as it was a birth right. Hannibal's birth right and Lektor's a little bit too. The Krov brothers were ultimately denied this prize but here they were again. This homecoming would soon be their second quest for control
Walking through the forest, Hannibal was exhilarated with thoughts about how all this might turn out. It would take a long time to prepare, yes, but how glorious a victory it would be. Victory for the sake of it, too, because Hannibal would not stick around to keep control of what he would kill. He just wanted to prove to himself he could do this because the taste of defeat was still in his mouth. It'd been there for some years and he was ready for it to be gone.
"Why the fuck are we even here?" Lektor asked impatiently, he wasn't always in the mood to humor his brother's schemes, "Fuck this place."
"Must your language be so vulgar?" Hannibal brushed the other wolf off, "We've come home for a bit of a visit, is all -- calm. It'll be over soon, at any rate."
NOTES -- They're not really working toward the center of the territory just kinda scouting out the borders and plotting and stuff. If Yana heard anything that would tip her off to their presence it would probably be the laughing. TAGGED -- @vixen

Yana
Life was cut throat, and Yana was not always the most appropriate to make her choices. Her paws carried her around the grounds, feeling restless. Questioning herself, the wonder in her eyes. Oh, she loathed herself to the reaction she had permitted herself to use when seeing Joker. She hardly knew him anymore! But on the other paw, she had been with him so long in her mind when it counted that she could not just dismiss him. She had missed him, that was something that could be admitted - so why didn't she feel content? Why wasn't his return filled with celebration and grandeur that could only be dreamed about in the darkest of nights?
There was nothing to be done about the emotions that followed her around though. The mottled color wolf would feel as she forever did, and her mind would not be at rest for long. Whatever hope should have accompanied that had been lifted like a dark cloud and floated away long ago, only leaving the drenched feeling in her fur. Ears pulled back against her head, and there was a horror in her world that could not be denied, something about her had broken. How could she fix it, that was the question that she was forced to carry her with her.
There was only so much that could be accomplished by grousing about what was now settled. What choices could be made with the situation she had to approach? Head tipped to the side and she found her paws throwing her forward a little faster. Oh, it was like ghosts were chasing her! How pathetic could she be. While the female knew she would be causing the other one she had to be concerned about pain, she forced herself to pause.
Running for ghosts was fairly ineffective when she had tied herself to these grounds. The value was hopeless, and her mouth twisted with a feeling of pain that could not be denied. Bonding to the pup had not been expected, but in the night of a late autumn storm, Kita had entered her world and what had there to be done? Beyond bringing him into her world, and she never took a moment to regret it. There was no displeasure in her new son, the male she had adopted into her world. Even though his eyes glittered with fear and sadness most of the time.
Damned the world for every intention to abandon everyone! To give up on all that mattered, why what had ever been the value in words when everything was a lie. Her attention was snapped away from where she was settled though, something pulled her attention back to the crackling sound bouncing off the trees. Laughter? What in the hell was that doing in Shore Woods?
Belatedly, the female crept forward while she scolded herself. Such a sin she was being so harsh with everything, but who could have blamed her? The leadership she had been born into had been during times of war, and they had left the island to come to the mainland. She had taken her home in Shore Woods, only to have that blasted away by wandering lust! It was absurd, and it had left her feeling more sticky than she ever would have wished.
ooc: @rhodie. I quite like these two already. Such a way of their interaction is very addictive. I won't have Yana stumbling upon them until the next post. <3

HANNIBAL // lektor Why wasn't Hannibal as irked as Lektor was? The two years following their departure from this place, the white wolf spoke no good of the pack. Maybe now he was just suppressing disgust? Lektor couldn't tell. He'd known his brother all his life and he was still a conundrum. So much was hidden behind those smart red eyes. It pissed him off. Especially now as he was left alone to grumble about.
Bad memories overtook the good. The pair had so much baggage, the majority of it connected with this place, the rest connected to their relationship which too held roots in Shore Woods. Their last instance here played back and forth to Lektor as he walked with Hannibal. For a moment his eyes clouded as he was pulled into his subconscious. It had hurt, he remembered the pain vividly, as he and his brother were chased from the pack lands. It'd hurt for a long time after because it was all his fault. Lektor wasn't strong enough and had let their home be robbed by those barons. This time would be different. He was so much stronger now, like death itself, he'd kill anyone that stood in his way. He'd kill them to give Hannibal what he wanted so much. Lektor didn't care to have a home at any rate. This little fantasy was his brother's.
"Don't ya' remember?" Lektor said.
They, coincidentally, had entered from the same place they had left. Nothing had changed in the slightest. Looking hard enough, they could see the specters of the past replaying the scene.
"Speak nothing of it." Hannibal snapped, he didn't want to be reminded either, "We'll burn it soon enough."
Out of sight out of mind. Hannibal didn't want to be reminded of this failure. Besides, it seemed company was around at any rate. Hannibal glanced to Lektor, who was looking around. He could tell something was upon them as well, though he didn't know what or where, otherwise he'd have been snarling by now. Their eyes met and Hannibal nodded; they were to keep going as long as no danger was present. He had full confidence in Lektor's ability to counter any move made upon them. He was quite the weapon.
"It'll be mine to do with as I please." Hannibal continued.
"Nice ta' know we're in this together, Hanni." Lektor joked, though he didn't care a bit about it.
"Leadership doesn't suit you. It's likely you'd pit everyone against their kin until there was nothing left to lead." Hannibal smiled, quite fond of how barbaric Lektor could be.
"Right'O." Lektor wouldn't deny his penchant for chaos.
NOTES -- What I worked out with Kenren in regards to their past with Shore Woods was that the brothers, their father and others unnamed, attempted a coup. They failed, their father was killed and the rest of them fled fearing the same fate. So the brothers are remembered how they ran through Shore Woods territory, trying to get away from the party sent after them. They were like 2 years at the time. TAGGED -- @vixen

Yana
Ghosts from the past were something the female now expected. But there was also need to protect her home, despite the fact she had been thrown off of the deep end. Had there ever been someone who considered her, who would step up and make it known what she wanted count? Evidently not, and her mouth twisted with the reminder. It was a fair assessment, the female had been a silent little thing when she had be young. While those who tried made her into someone who would open up, most of the time the feisty mottled female would just shut everyone else down.
Trust was one of the hardest things in the world for the she-wolf, and as she ducked against the trees, she attempted to keep herself hidden. The autumn ways would have done it better, now she stood out a bit more against the decorated grounds. Heart thudded in her chest, wanting to take a taste of something hopeful in her mouth, perhaps she would be able to bring something back to the pack. News of some sort, but what would it be?
Her body froze when her trails brought her off close enough to hear the whispers of voices, only while her ears were turned forward. It was enough to make her heart stop, the quiet conversation caused her not to want to venture forward. Those were not voices of the friendly, of the trusted at all; it caused her to curl her lip in dismay. Even as she stalked forward, her clever mind summoned the images she had fought not to let exist. The reminders of a happily ever after, once again, that had just been spoiled.
Tail swished behind her faintly, to the left in a show if irritation. What in the world was she dealing with? Why had the pair of them not been killed off when they had escaped? But her heart wrenched all the same, shutting down any thoughts that accompanied it. Lektor, the female idly reminded herself. She had been a yearling but she had remembered the dark coated wolf fondly, she had staunchly ignored the white wolf who seemed a little too self absorbed.
When the mottled wolf broke the treeline, her head was held high despite the fact she was nearly half the size of the pair. Her red eyes danced with bottled up emotions, things she did not wish to display. Her voice was stronger than it would have been when she was younger, there was another ice circle around her heart to keep others out. "Gentlemen."
Her head cocked, and lip curved faintly in distaste at the sight of the white wolf. It was all she could see, and it blinded her for a few long moments. He had been just another damnation on the pack! Him and his father, and the others - there was blame to be had, and Yana would blame the living. The one in front of her, "Hannibal, I fancied you dead and gone. Dreams don't come true."

HANNIBAL // lektor Hannibal's eyes lowered. Condescension was all about him. He looked at her like he would look at an unwanted fly. To Hannibal, this girl and said insect were one in the same, really. Annoyances. Annoyances.
The way she spoke his name irked him. Like they were familiar. Like she was worthy to speak it. Hannibal's lip curled in disdain. How he wanted her dead. His muscles flexed beneath his ivory white coat, poised to jump and do away with her. Then, some voice at the back of his mind chided "Not yet. Not yet, Hannibal. Wait...wait...You'll take all of them one day. Soon. Soon, Hannibal. Just wait." That little voice was reminiscent of himself, telling the same things to Lektor. Speaking of Lektor...
Hannibal glanced to his brother who seemed none too irritated. That wasn't normal. Hannibal couldn't tell. He was either apathetic or, dare he think it, happy. Who was this girl? Hannibal posed the question in that look. Lektor got it, as if by telepathy, and met his brother's gaze.
"Yana." Lektor offered his clarification, "She was a yearling back then."
It escaped Hannibal why Lektor would remember any wolf from this forsaken pack, let alone fondly. He wasn't snarling and snapping at her like he would do towards anyone else. His brother's mind did wander.
"Yana." Hannibal repeated, "Snooping about? Or...are you running from something?"
Hannibal directed a curt nod to Lektor. The dusky wolf got the memo, laughing darkly. They both moved out at once, surrounding her as they were apt to do.
"What're you up to these day, girly?" Lektor quipped, a wild nature in his voice, " Out here all alone? Ain't ya' supposed'ta be runnin' after Irial's son? What the fuck is his name anyway?"
"Joker. Joker Er Rai.", Hannibal answered, "That murderer. Remember? Poor old bat. What a way to go. Then he ran away."
This tickled Lektor into a fit of insane giggles.
"But really," Hannibal's voice now had an edge to it "What are you doing here?"

Yana
There was a feeling that washed through her, a tension that could not be denied. While she had suspected there was something wrong with the white wolf from the beginning, her mind had been changed about Lektor over time just as it had with Joker. There was a block to accessing Yana, but somehow there was a few who had lulled her into a false sense of security when she had been younger. A foolish point in her life, to be sure, but one she had done so with the best of intentions.
The female stiffened lightly at the look in those eyes that stared at her though, like she was less than. Ah, there was the arrogance she remembered. Her lip curled in response, she offered him back what he dished out. Yeah, two could play at that game. There had been a lot more time for her to learn how to beat up airheads. What she did not expect was the tone that was unfamiliar to her, and her eyes swished to Lektor.
"You haven't become his lapdog, have you?" The female asked softly, slightly aghast at the notion. Why, that brain dead wolf! Her eyes turned back to glaring at Hannibal, even as he stepped forward. "Running? Why, Hannibal... I thought that was your forte..." The soft whisper breathed through the air, and her body backed up a single step as she watched the movement of the pair, so in sync with one another. It frightened her, momentarily, before her words snapped, "In fact, you did it most beautiful with your tail tucked, you coward."
Lektor's voice had her tail rising, her eyes dropped away as she fought down the quiver of anger. Whatever might have happened, it was none of their concern. Of course, the words stabbed so effectively - damn her for even knowing the pair that stood before her! "Joker, our profound ruler, has come back with the news of Irial's falling thank you very much. Shore Woods breathe anew." Her words held the bitter edge that could not be denied, but the growl that accompanied it was a good enough threat.
"So you both can leave now, I assume he'll not take pity on you." Her eyes snapped to Hannibal again, "Especially you, you traitorous git! Who do you think you are!" The surge had her coming forward, her head raised as she looked into those deadly eyes. "Coming back when you're unwanted... You never could take a hint."
ooc: @rhodie. Yana is clearly looking for trouble, ha!
