Namiko picked her way carefully down the rocky cliffs, following hidden paths that she had found by trial and error over the years. She wasn't sure why the ocean called to her the way it did. Hardly a day went by during which she at least stare out over the endless expanse of water. No matter what time of day it was, or the season, the waters never once looked the same. Sometimes she would be in a melancholy mood, murmuring soft lullabies with every gentle lap of the waves on the shore. Other days she was jubilant, hosting races for the white horses and flirting with the seabirds. Then there were her favourite days, when the ocean was a seething mass of fury - lightning storms showed her off to best effect. The electricity in the air at those times, coupled with the salty lash of sea-spray on her cheeks was intoxicating.
Her love of the sea was the cause of her separation for her pack. They had never understood her craving for the fish-laden air and rhythmic whoosh of the waves. She'd been on her own for the past year, skirting away from all signs of other wolves. She'd had enough weird glances to last a lifetime...and there was a brooding sense of heaviness to the lands. Something festering, like a wound that hadn't been given the correct treatment. No, it was safer to be on her own - a single shadow to hide against the rock-strewn and wave-torn landscape.
She nimbly navigated her way over the damp rocks, her paws finding purchase even on the most slippery of them all. If she thought back to her first clumsy outings, her face grew warm with embarrassment. She'd sent various rocks clattering down the cliff-face, and then she'd fallen into the ocean on more than one occasion when her paws lost their hold on the seaweed covered rocks. It wasn't long before she saw her favourite point. A tall rock stood proudly within the shallows, high enough to remain dry in all but the biggest storms and far enough out that it was always surrounded by water. She trotted over to it, scrambling up with a flurry of scratching claws. It was quite a bit rock for a normal sized wolf, and she really wasn't the strongest. But there were enough cracks and fissures to give her the necessary claw holds. She breathed deeply, letting the cool breeze tickle her cheeks. The day was overhung, and the grey water splashed petulantly against her rock. She grinned, humming to herself.

King of the Coast, Kerberos
Life was a fickle thing. It was a dangerous game that was often played with loose ends that remained tied up. In some ways, many claimed that the Coast would never be claimed. It was too vast, such evils could never keep life from being lived. And yet he managed, despite the misgiving of only his right eye in existence. His body plodded on, silent on the rocks as he lingered back at a far distance. It did not matter, the female was immune to the sounds of his nails quietly clicking on the rocks. She was lost in her own little world.
It bothered him for a moment or two that he did not find her realizing what a gift she had been given. She had selected the coast with something deep within her showing a craving, and now he was honored with the gift from his father. As if he needed more, but he would welcome them into his home regardless. Females, there was only so many uses for them. Most of the time they were regarded as useless, unworthy. Most of the time it was just the fact that they were not worth the time and the effort.
The massive male had followed, so silently, for almost two hours at present. His ears swished on his head, and the hint of his mouth quirked upwards as the irritation filled his features. She was very improper in her actions, and it displeased him to think she could be arrogant enough to think she could survive in this world. Something would come along and eat her, if her corpse was not washed out into the ocean for the sharks to devour.
His derogatory sound was almost blocked out from even his own ears, but blue grey eyes could not be denied the annoyance. She pranced over his rocks, slipping occasionally, and yet she had not even offered him attention. Not a backwards glance. It made him want to growl, but he held back. Somehow he did not lunge as impulsively as his father would have done. Did it make him better than the God? Not at all, just a little better rounded.
Soon. Soon he would have her.

Too lost in her own world to worry about the possibility of being followed, she stared out over the waves. They looked so inviting, beckoning her to join. She held out for a moment longer though. It was so serene, so peaceful. Not that she needed her soul to be soothed. She had quite taken to solitary life. Yes, she missed have conversations and the comforting feel of someone curled by your side...but all in all, she got enough out of the world around her. The birds would sing and she would listen; the wind would murmur and she would hum along. She'd not been eating too well, though. Her ribs were easily felt when her long fur was pushed to one side. She wasn't a bad hunter, per se. It was more than she was too sensible to go after the sea lions that bathed in the autumn sun. So that left her with the odd bird and otherwise a scarce few rabbits and mice that had lost their way to the coast.
Still, she was content the way it was. She'd worry about starving in winter when winter actually arrived. Maybe she's find a loose group of wolves to stay with during the worst of it. But she'd wait and see. There was no use in worrying about something that might not even occur. With that thought firmly in mind, she slipped off her rock into the cold waters. The chill knocked the breath from her body and she gasped. Gracious! But after the first shock passed, she paddled confidently further out. The coldness was invigorating, stimulating her blood flow and leaving her almost breathless with happiness.
She swam headlong into the waves, bobbing up and down as they grew stronger the further away she drew from the protected shallows. Every once in a while, her head would be swamped by a wave that she wasn't quite prepared to meet and she was submerged. Whenever she resurfaced, she spluttered for breath and giggled. She had never understood how others hated getting themselves wet. Oh, the moans she had suffered when it rained and the poor souls got raindrops in their ears! Ah, the diversity in taste! She paddled onwards, submerging more and more frequently. With the noise of the waves around and above her, she didn't hear the splashing until it was too late.

King of the Coast, Kerberos
Gaze skimmed over the waters, knowing that the tide would be coming in. It would be too much for most wolves to handle, even himself; the problem was the bulky male could handle a fair bit - but the water ruled. It amused him in some ways, knowing that he was the king of the land predators in the distinct area, but right at his toes was another world.
Oh, he would have been content to watch her. But the idiot female decided to go into the waters, and he braced himself against the stones. What was she thinking? Was she really so young and stupid that she would not have seen the rippling figures out in the water? The time of the season meant they were on the move, but they were still hungry. The very food source they craved were what he sunk his teeth into. Now she insisted on going out and trying to get herself destroyed.
The growl echoed, bouncing off the rocks as he slipped down into the shallows. He knew he was strong enough to make it out and back. It would not be the first time he had argued with a beast; and his body was strong in the water. Perhaps a bit on the heavier side, and tail swished from one side to the other. His eyes glowing as he gazed over the waters.
His body was out in the water, listening to her joy. Some of the sealions bobbed in the distance, but then in a blink they were gone. Scattering, because she was getting out. She was like a new prey species welcomed into the water. New things would entice those that wanted a pre-winter feast. When he reached her, the snarl rumbled in his throat as he made a grandeur of himself. He lunged and grabbed onto her scruff, before he dragged the wet body towards the shore. Even as the first sign of curiosity has a scream of alarm from a sea lion in the water.
Hauling her back towards shore, he wisely ignored her thrashing. They would be time to give her his words once they were safely back on the rocks.

She could see the sea-lions just a little bit further out. They weren't exactly her friends - they couldn't communicate, after all - but they were as close to companions as she could find. She never harmed them, and they in turn tolerated her presence on their beach and in their waters. She'd play with the younger ones when the opportunity presented itself, though. They weren't big enough to tow her under for long periods of time, and were happy to splash about in the waves. She'd watch the adults play sometimes, their glistening bodies darting through the water before shooting into the air. It amused her, to see how much fun the sea-dwelling mammals had. They weren't nearly as stiff and dull as the wolves she'd grown up with. Playing was fine for puppies...But not for adults!
When she resurfaced from another white-crested wave, she released a hoarse bark of greeting. They would have noticed her soon anyway, but good manners were good manners. Before she could get any closer though, something big and heavy grabbed hold of her. She shrieked in shock, coughing and spluttering on the mouthful of sea-water she'd accidentally managed to get into her mouth. This wasn't a sea-lion buffeting her around for play! She didn't really know what it was, only that it was dragging her none to gently towards land. Which meant either wolf or bear. "Let go of me!" she cried, thrashing in the strong grasp at her neck. She tried to spin around and give her attacker a solid wwhack to whichever body part was most accessible and delicate...but she only got her paws tangled in waves and sea-weed.
She quickly realised that escaping was futile. The teeth at her nape were strong and unyielding...their sharpness a silent threat that prevented her from squirming too much. She didn't fancy losing a whole lot of skin and flesh. So she let herself hang limp, asking herself why her pleasant day had suddenly turned foul. She couldn't really put her paw on the matter, the idea too large for her mind to grasp. She felt her paws scrape against the rounded pebbles of the shore and struggled to right herself. She was a little terrified to find herself almost being able to walk upright, and she closed her eyes to gather the strength to peer at her assailant. "Would you please let me go?" she asked pleasantly, her eyes still firmly closed. "Your hold is getting rather uncomfortable." As soon as she was released, a faint sigh of relief passed through her lips, before she turned to look at whoever had the temerity of disturb her peace. Her tirade died upon her lips, her blue-grey gaze staring into eye that matched her exact hue. More startling than the lack of the eye's brother was the dark, brooding face that it was set into. She felt small and insignificant beside his bulk, and it took all her willpower to keep herself drawn up to her full height.

King of the Coast, Kerberos
The male had little tolerance for death that was not brought down by his orders. The mere notion that some of the land predators would be snatched up by those in the water, and tail lashed violently from one side to the other as he propelled his prize back to the shore. The mood beckoned him to swim faster, only breathing a sigh of relief when she ceased the senseless struggling. He overpowered her so easily, it was not the first time he had jerked around a wolf like they were a piece of meat that he had torn off a kill.
When he breached the waves, his paws righted himself easily and he started forward with ease. Shoulders rolled as he found himself wanting to grumble, and his body loosened as he found the female standing up better. When she was steadied, and he was positive that he was not going to be tormented by her swinging around, he peered at her. Releasing her was step one, the second step was watching her realize what her saviour was.
His features softened with the show of her nerves, only faintly. His right eye studied her with a show of wonder, before his head cocked to the side. The words were hard for him to come by, but eventually his gruff voice purred. "You were almost consumed by sharks, lady luck." Brisk words were an announcement that could not be denied, even while his tail raised. As he stepped aside, he turned lightly and tossed his muzzle out to the waves, seeing the dark shapes move restlessly. That they had not breached the surface was a favour on their part.
"They travel light this time of year, even the smallest meal will suffice." It was not an apology. The male would not apologize, but it was a fair assessment on his part. As he stepped away from her,the male appeared elegant over the stones despite his looming figure. Then he twisted, almost before it appeared he was leaving, and pointedly gazed at her. "Such a lovely life lost would be a trouble to the island indeed, it's not in your heart to forgive a shark, I'm afraid. They quite like killing us, although so many say they are mindless..."
He was cultured, it was a shock to the system. Despite the fact he had been a year before he had learned to speak. "But I do not believe so." His pointed eye watched her, skimming over her features as she stood so bravely. "Determination to survive is a thing only the greatest predators carry with them, every moment of their lives."

Whatever she had expected him to say...informing her quite calmly that she had been close to becoming dinner. "Oh." The expression seemed wholly inadequate to the situation, but it was a lot to take in. "I...well, I suppose I ought to thank you" she stammered, dropping her gaze to her soggy paws for a moment. Well, that definitely put a different spin on things. He'd been her saviour, not her attacker! She felt suddenly very flustered, her gaze flickering out towards the dark shapes and the rare sharp fin out on the water. She wasn't used to being saved. To be fair, she wasn't used to wolves point blank. She felt as though she ought to say something more substantial, but the male freaked her out a bit. He was too big, too sure of himself and his actions. His very presence threatened to engulf her, and the non-shy fragment of her just clammed up instinctively.
Her legs felt weak, and she let her rear drop to the ground. She was pulled from her shock by the male's words, and a spark of fire darted through her eyes. "Of course I could forgive a shark" she countered, though her voice didn't sound nearly as authoritative as his. "Provided I was alive enough" she amended, her gaze resting lightly on the male who stood perched on the rocks. "They cannot help their nature, nor would I begrudge them nourishment." Her gaze wandered out across the water, suddenly realising that her sea-lion friends had scattered. "It is the way of life. What is eaten one day re-enters the cycle at a distant point in time." She smiled softly to herself, lost in her musings and the very real threat before her.
His voice was brisk, a little rough around the edges, as though he didn't speak much. She watched him carefully, trying to gauge what his next move would be. Why should he have cared about her life in the first place? The private voice in her mind asked a very good question, and she shivered at the implications the answer might bring. "I'm afraid I disagree again, good sir" she offered, feeling a little more confident with him standing further away from her. "We all have a will to survive; even the smallest rabbit. Why else would they run for their lives when we arrive?" Her soprano tunes were laced with a desire that he embrace her thoughts. Not just listen and accept them, but really understand them. There were so many who lamented the way of life; the sufferings and deaths that littered the road. But that was needless! Yes, there was a time of sorrow at the passing of a loved one. But you did not love for the body that ceased working; you loved for the essence of being. And that would remain preserved in heart and memory for as long as you lived.

King of the Coast, Kerberos
However he managed to win the female over with his off cutting words, it pleased him. The fact that she remained reasonable in that moment, and di not sputter at him like other females would have forced upon here offered a hint of reprimand. His head inclined smoothly, and the pleasure of his eye was dismissed as something that never happened. His tail flicked from one side to the other, and he offered her a thoughtful glance.
Not blame the so called monster? Well something about that made him a bit more receptive. As he shook himself briskly, his eyes narrowed thoughtfully with his tumbled thoughts. It was never a dull moment in Ker's mind, but he forced himself to pipe up. "Such a beautiful tune about the way of life is to be admired." Careful voice plodded on as he shifted to face her a little more head on. His ears pulled forward, and he watched her through that single eye. It read more than what was being said, the assessment was far beyond what assumed casual conversation meant.
His paws gripped the rocks a little harder, and he curled a lip up briefly. Giving benefit to the rabbit, but he humoured her. He managed to appear to be thinking it over, and his head inclined. "Perhaps you speak true, Lady Mine," His soft words seemed amused with the concept. It could have been argued it was just over the mere thought of being compared to a rabbit. "I would argue that the trails to reach the will to survive are endlessly distance between predator and prey, however." His eye shined, and the wolfish grin appeared fierce, aggressive. "Pardon the old fashioned fool who stands before you and will only relent that far, beyond that I would say that determination, in comparison to fear induction, remains without the value that should be embraced."
As he shifted, he neared the little day dreamer once again. His paws danced so easily over the rocks, and his head lowered an inch or so, his appearance still softened by the fascination. Why! Up close she was even more of a gem, just as he had hoped. "We could argue the account until we're as blue as the waves, I am sure." Husky laughter rumbled in his chest, noticeable, but it never fully escaped as he leaned inwards. Inhaling her wet scent, he offered a content sigh. "I am unaccustomed to debate, so I would rather not stray towards such time consuming tosses of words, not when the treasure of my mind is purely tactile."

He understood where she was coming from! The thought was so startling, so beautiful that her reservations melted away like snow in the sunlike. Her features softened a little, a genuine smile stealing across her narrow, angled features and lighting up her eyes. Perhaps this was a fateful meeting indeed! There had to be a good reason for her first lupine contact in 14 months being someone who appreciated her philosophy on life. It unnerved her a little to be called 'Lady Mine', but she didn't have the time to worry about that. If he really did want to claim her as his, she wasn't exactly in a position to hold him off. It would take one good swat with one of his paws and she'd be knocked about like a twig on meltwater. Her ears twisted to catch his words over the murmur of the waves, giving weight to his position. He had a fair point, she admitted to herself, taking a moment to internalise his ideas and compare them with her own. She liked to think things through carefully before doing something rash. Rash actions tended to land yourself into trouble...and she was well-aware that she wasn't well equipped for fending off said trouble. "When spoken that way, I suppose you have a fair point. You speak of the conscious drive to live; the one that requires foresight and the execution of a number of steps in a grand plan." She nodded to herself, her body tensing when he suddenly came closer again. His scent rested heavily in her nostrils; rich and powerful. This was a wolf who was not to be crossed, and her own instincts urged her to flee.
"Yes, I suppose we could dissect each other's arguments for the remaining day and night, and still not agree on all points." She offered him a wry smile, kneading the ground slightly in anxiety as he leaned closer. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! The words he breathed at her had her quivering in her pelt. Tactile treasures? In his mind? She didn't have the faintest idea of what he meant by that, nor how that could relate, in any way, to an informed discussion. She was torn between the instinct to turn tail and run, and the desire to curl up in a tiny ball and hope the stranger disappeared. Her eyes darted first left and then right, her heart beating loudly against her ribs. What if he heard it? She forced herself to exhale shakily, determined to keep her composure at least long enough to see him off. Then she could have a melt-down, followed by a well-deserved nap. In the morning, things would look better. They always did.

King of the Coast, Kerberos
One of his favourite moments was when they realized something was wrong. When who's company he was with suddenly resulted in a melt, and his head cocked to the side as his mouth turned up a little more. His laughter trembled at the edge of his lips, but he never quite managed to emit it to the air. There was no way he would scare her off, although he seemed to be doing that fair on her own choices. Tail swished behind him tentatively, and his grin appeared on his features again.
Offering her a frown though in the next moment, he leaned into her until his nose almost touched her soft neck. He would have grabbed her again, if he had not thought that he stood better on his paws. "I've startled you." The tart words poured out of his mouth, sounding displeased with himself. "It was not my intent, dear one. I would never do something to harm you." Was that a lie? He supposed it was in a way, he would never do something to harm her unless she deserved it. Unfortunately, in his world, females were not confident enough to make it through life without a few scuffles.
His shoulders rolled, and his tongue flicked out of his mouth lightly as he pulled away. His eyes narrowed faintly, but then he tossed his head lightly. No, this was not something he prepared to embrace so readily, and his mouth tightened as he realized she wanted to bolt. Leave him, after he had saved her life? The anger stirred, but his eye closed as he focused himself inward. He would not hurt her this early on.
Claws raked into the ground, and he shook his head firmly as his intent went out the window. He backed away from her, and huffed with a show of emotion. "You need not worry, darling, I take care of those who walk on my coast. I always have." Promise riddled in his voice, his eyes studying as he believed himself to be right. She dare not run, and that was the only thing that comforted him.

He was coming closer...closer....closer. His exhalation tickled the fur on her nape and she shivered at the feeling. That was too close! She tried to move away, but her paws were rooted to the ground. His words snaked through her ears and reverberated through her body. His presence was oppressive, cloying...like the darkness of an eclipse that blotted out the sun's warmth. She didn't know how far she ought to trust his words and her mind spun 'round and 'round in wild circles. He said he'd not hurt her. He'd risked his own life to drag her out of the shark-infested waters. And yet...her own instinct of survival informed her that something was off about it. She couldn't say what...only that there was. "I've not been in much company over the past seasons" she managed meekly, still trying to unroot her paws. Even her legs were feeling heavier than normal and a small part of her wondered whether she was about to turn to stone.
He pulled away a little, his endearment sounding alarm bells in her mind. He'd taken a liking to her, for whatever reasons he had. And technically, she owed him her life anyway. Oh, it was a frightful mess to be in! How could he like her, though? They'd never met before, not even seen each other. She paused at that thought, remembering the looming shadow of hunger that had followed her on many of her walks. She'd never seen anyone, and yet she'd not looked particularly hard. Some days it was there, other days it wasn't. "You've been following me, haven't you!" The thought of being watched brought some spark into her petrified state, and she fixed him with a calculating look. "This is less about caring for those who reside her, and more about keeping them all in line!" There was a definite note of accusation in her vocals, and she found enough energy to raise her rump off the ground. She shook her head in painful recognition of her predicament.
Her gaze jumped from the male to her paws and back to the male, indecision plain on her features. "You're going to take me with you, aren't you?" It wasn't really a question, but she thought it best to speak her thoughts before she panicked completely. There might still be hope of this all being a slight misunderstanding. From the look on his face though, he was quite serious about his lady mine and darling. Her features crumpled into a crestfallen expression, one front paw unsticking itself from the rocks before setting itself down again. "If I try to run, you're going to hunt me down." She didn't even bother asking it as a question, and cold terror gripped her heart. What was going to happen to her?
At a complete loss of what else to do, she let her body sink gracefully to the ground, curling herself into a tight little ball and clenching her eyes tightly shut. "When I open my eyes, this will not have happened. I will be alone on the shore, and you will be far, far away doing whatever it is you do" she mumbled. Far, far away....yes, that would be where she was headed as soon as this nightmare ended. Dreams weren't to be trifled with, certainly not those which concerned scary looking males that called her darling.

King of the Coast, Kerberos
While she was not about to offer him defeat, this female grasped the situation quite clearly. As he rolled back, his rear hit the ground behind him and he massaged the rocks with the pads of his feet. Oh yes, he was quite endeared to the words that billowed out of her mouth, and he watched her as she came around to the conclusion. He assumed she was beyond her years in intelligence, for a lady to grasp the situation so clearly was unheard. His eye blinked dutifully, and his tail swished from one side to the other.
Her fear forced him to take in a slight, shaky breath of delight. Ah, to cow her into a spot where she realized it was useless. His body never moved though, although he managed to incline his head in bashful glee with her accusation. "Terribly childish of me, I will allow you that." Conceded point to the female, his eye shined as it opened again to look at her with a spark of something in his own. Yes, there was a reason he was the son of something pure evil, it called to him. It was like a drug that could not be denied.
"Normally," Apologetic voice attempted to explain his standpoint, "You would have been whipped away in the night and placed under strict control." His words rattled off, finding his voice a bit hoarse. He was speaking too much, but it caused him just to give a shake of his head. There was a need for the female to understand, and as she all but collapsed to the ground, he raised to his paws. The look of concern crossed his stern features, but he brought himself back to her.
Yes, he needed to be close. While she curled up into herself, he leaned over her. Placing one paw on either side of her, it appeared there was almost a twinge of anxiety in his voice. "You won't run, will you? I do want to keep my promise..." Even as he leaned down, his warm tongue raked over the top of her head. Pointedly, he shifted until he was sniffing her, drawing her into him with eagerness. "Yes I will chase you, darling, I will chase you until your legs give out and you are near death from attempting to hide... And then I will nurse you back in my care. So let's skip that tedium. Stay with me."
"I am Kerberos," The purr rattled out of him, wolfish in nature this time around, "You'll learn the stories of me, you'll learn this land will not allow a lady freedom."

She was done for. Doomed and lost for all eternity! Well, not quite. Death would take her at some point and then things would come to an end. But until then, who knew what was going to happen to her. His factual account of what normally happened didn't feel her with good thoughts. Not even half-way good thoughts. It was nerve-chilling and she was beginning to hate this day with a vengeance. Her perfectly structured life as a sea-wolf was being threatened by one big wolf who thought the world had to dance to his tune! Unfortunately, said wolf was too big for her to do anything about.
Curled up, it seemed as though he might get the point and leave her alone. Then a shadow fell across her, his scent and his body heat engulfing her in a sticky mire of possessiveness. Not good, not good, not good she thought frantically, not daring to open her eyes for fear of what she would find. He wanted to keep his promise....Oh, she didn't want him to hurt her. Pain was something that could be endured if necessary, but she really preferred life without it. That, and she was beginning to see that he would like causing pain, like hearing his victim cry out when faced with his strength.
Something warm and moist touched her skull, sudden a bolt of abject terror running through her. Before she had to think of where she was, or what she was doing, she'd uncurled and lunged upwards, jaws snapping shut on the thin air just before the male's throat. The action was accompanied by a snarl, her ears folded back in response to the fear running through her body. If he hadn't been standing over her, preventing all possible escape, she would have run. There was always a time where the brain ceased to function, and the instinct of self-preservation hit in. She'd reached that point now.
As it was, she couldn't go anywhere, and she had both too little space and too little daring to throw another attack at him. She took in his words without really hearing them, staring into his sightless eye-socket. She didn't even want to know where that came from. "Why?" It was a plaintive cry, her defeat etched into each angle and curve of her face. "Why not leave me alone? I cause no harm. I'd even move away. " She was whispering now, her voice catching as she battled against the childish need of having someone safe and trustworthy at her back.
Things were spiralling horridly out of control, and her mind latched onto the only solution she thought possible. "You are going to let me go, and I shall walk away and this will all just be a frightful nightmare that I shall forget in due course." She slithered out of his grasp, her flanks quivering with each shallow breath. "I bid you a good day, Kerberos" she managed as calmly as she good with a fractured nod in his direction before edging away from him at a side-ways walk. She wasn't foolish enough to turn her back on him...and she couldn't walk backwards very well.

King of the Coast, Kerberos
A bad dream. That was appropriate for speaking of Ker, but the male wrinkled his nose in a show of discomfort. Honestly, she was not making any sense. One moment she seemed to have some common sense, the secondary moment she was off in the world almost whimpering in a ball of mush. While he liked the fear and concern that beckoned happily, following in the footsteps of the wench, eye watched in amusement for a few long moments.
Shoulders rolled as the growl of warning bubbled in his chest. There was no need for him to allow her to gain her mind, and his tail swished behind him arrogantly. He was proud of his ability, and his lip curled faintly. Well what was she going to go with this issue? Was she going to attempt to move that quickly, when he was nothing short of the promising predator he had whispered about? Voice hummed a moment, and then the dark wolf uttered a sigh. "I do trust you will not cause me trouble, darling." No female could cause him trouble for long, it often meant they had to forfeit their lives.
"However, as you've stated so astutely," His words vibrated as he leaned down, his eyes glancing over the female who was at his mercy. "I've been following you aimlessly. My duties have been ignored, and now I cannot let you go." Shaking his head, his words were ominous, even as he allowed himself to be moved away from. The blue-grey eye studied the little female who sought to escape, amusement followed with a gesture from his chin being notched up a bit higher.
"Don't run darling." His voice murmured softly, even as he followed her. "I don't request you give up hope, but for now you best just follow along with me. No need to have cuts and bruises when I'm short a madman." Blunt words were accompanied with a hint of distaste. Yes, his healer had vanished into the night. Whatever had beckoned him on a call would eventually spit him back out of the abyss. In the meanwhile, any wounds would be left to fester and bloat.
"You're a smart beauty." The approving grumble whispered, even as he traced her steps with his own. His head cocked again, and he offered another rough grin. "Don't make this hard on your body, don't damage yourself before you can come up with a better solution. I'm not such a nasty beast, if you listen."

She didn't want to cause him trouble. Not when it was quite clear who would suffer for any inconveniences laid in the brute's way. But not causing trouble meant that she had to succumb under his rule. "A life for a life" she whispered to herself, only just beginning to comprehend the vastness of the situation. Kerberos wasn't expecting payment - he was simply going to take it. The quieter she went, the more likely she was to get a proper night's rest.
He followed her easily, his paws caressing the self-same rocks that her's had touched. His words were rough on the air, scraping at her sensibilities. He spoke so eloquently for all the madness that must be locked within. Namiko was terrified of what the night and the morrow would bring. Terrified whether she made a crazed effort to hide, or followed along. His ominous threat played through her mind, and she came to a halt. The very thought of the pain he was alluring to made her want to curl up and whimper.
She didn't bother turning towards him - he would force her to look at him if he felt the need. Instead, she stared down at her pale paws, her head hanging low and shoulders slumped in defeat. She refused to tuck her tail, though. She might be scared for her life, but she wasn't quite prepared to give everything away in the blink of an eye. "I won't cause you trouble" she spoke softly, analysing the grains of dirt the covered her paws. Why were more beige than white at the moment. She hadn't given herself a proper wash in a while, though. A quick splash in a clean-looking puddle or rock pool was all she did, most occasions.
The sun was already setting behind the clouds, a brisk wind picking up and ruffling the damp strands of fur. She shivered, both with the cold and the dread that clung to her heart. She kept her teeth clenched firmly together, waiting for the male's presence to overwhelm hers again. She wouldn't cause trouble, she wouldn't snap at him....she couldn't afford to. Not yet, in any case. Perhaps in time, when she'd learnt his patterns and moods better, she could be her full self. But for now, it was best to keep her head down and mouth shut.
