The brownish male frowned as he skittered around a pile of rocks and strange, unknown vegetation he had never before seen even though he'd lived his entire (insignificant) life on the rock that was Sharktooth Island. And he had liked it, puttering around and occasionally filling up the fish stores when he was feeling good. True to his philosophy, Luc had managed to avoid fights like the But, it was time to explore the wide, wide world! Of course, the self-proclaimed fishing genius had absolutely no idea what it was like out there and no idea what to expect either, except for catching teeny, tiny glimpses of the one (or two?) strangers as he went about his daily business of eating, sleeping, and generally having an awesome life. Luc's watery eyes wandered to the equally watery sea and struck by an intense wanderlust about what lay beyond the Channel, he loped to the fine pile of fish, pulling two out to snack on - there. Now he was well-fed and rested, and without a second glance back to the island and the home he was leaving behind (for Science!), he dived into the waters. Which were surprisingly calm, and good for his health. A life of mostly fishing had prepared him well, and his lean, powerful legs propelled the wolf fast enough across the crossing, though if there was any land to be found, Luc couldn't see it. He'd practiced for days and years, training for the day that would culminate in great adventure! This! (Totally not, though, it was mostly a combination of Lira nagging him to do work and his jealousy of Iiona having a dad and being the pretty princess that motivated him to sometimes work his butt off to prove himself. And he had, even if most of it was because he was naturally good at it. Which gave him more excuse not to work as hard.) Somewhere along the road, the male was greeted by a swarm (flock? herd?) of dolphins that splashed around in the water, were a distraction from the tiring sight of the land that never seemed to get closer no matter how hard he swam for it, taking his mind off that silhouette in the distance. They were, in a completely non-religious way, a godsend, as some swam ahead, some swam behind and some swam comfortably beside him - churning the waters so that he didn't have to put in as much effort to kick as he had before they'd intervened. They arrived soaking wet at the shore, and Luc patted each one on the head - he owed whatever gods there were one. Maybe that Chaos Lady. "Yo guys," he panted, searching for his breath while managing to speak. "Thanks for the assist, but I can do it from here. " The dolphins nodded, as if they understood, which there was a high chance that they did. "Also, you can't exactly walk. You don't have these babies." And Luc pointed to his rather If he had wanted to guess what it was, Luc would have said it was Loneliness, with a capital L. He through up an uncertain howl so that Iiona would know where he'd gone, then quickly turned and trotted away into the unknown, another confusing feeling plaguing him. Fear "speaking" |
