Aleuris' ears were hanging at either side of her skull as it led her absent-mindedly through the dense and misty forest. Weary dark eyes suddenly lit up as realization pricked the white wolf's attention like the pierce of a talon. She stopped abruptly. Xaoc...? How long have I been in the Forest? I will have to thank the goddess for safe passage. With a single, satisfied wag of her tail, she threw up her head and belted out a loud howl into the frigid air. It sent a clear message: 'I am here.' Though it was only intended for the goddess' waiting ears.
Aleuris wasn't uneducated about the goddess and her gifts, she had been witness to her arrival and to her gifts in use. The abilities she granted those skilled enough to hone them were spectacular and endless in variety, it seemed. Coming to the Forest was nothing short of intentional, she had the thought in her mind since Chaos first arrived and planted a seed. However, Aleuris had been overly cautious at first. Chaos' name wasn't Chaos for no reason. It seemed evident that this was not something planned for wolfkind. The gifts were unnatural to them, and at first Aleuris stayed far away from the planted seed, burying it in the back of her mind.
Over time, however, the seed sprouted into a sprig - as seeds will do. The more power that cropped up across the land, the more uneasy Aleuris felt about it all simply unfolding around her. Power was not something to be thrown about, given to anyone that asks for it. Too many wanted to abuse it. Aleuris decided that she couldn't leave things to sort themselves out; she needed power, too, but she had to keep her vision within sights. She couldn't let it get the best of her.
Yet still, Aleuris didn't seek out the goddess of Chaos. She bid her time deliberately, mulling over what she would ask for or if it was reasonable. At first, she jumped straight to more powerful things, like manipulation or control of something. An element, perhaps. After a while, Aleuris knew. Knew that she needed a gift that would aide others, not that could be used against them.
Finally, there she stood among the tall, dark coniferous trees. With sheer willpower alone she had found it, but perhaps Chaos wanted to be found. The she-wolf gazed out into the gray with alert brown eyes. Suddenly, she gave a deep bow of her head and spoke:
"Chaos, thank you for the safe passage into your realm. I'm sure you know what I'm here for. You've given this land unspeakable power, and with that... all that it entails. I ask you to help me help others, even if in the smallest way," as Aleuris spoke to the forest, it seemed to hold its breath and lean in close. She felt more and more humbled by the heartbeat; this wish would surely never be granted. "I... I have lost so much. I don't want others to suffer as I have. If the world is so able to cause pain and suffering, should there not be something of opposite value to keep the balance?" Her eyes and muzzle dropped with the pang of long-suppressed memories. Recovering quickly, she turned up her circular ears and lifted her chin. "I want to mend the wounds of my comrades; heal the sick; regenerate what was lost; to restore my fellow wolf. Please, gift me a healer's touch and I will be ever indebted to you."
