Mara Aislin The point is I reached. Not that I fell trying. Coddled up in her makeshift den, Mara felt the damp lick of sea water tickle her front paws and the whistle of the winds howl enter her ears in the attempts to awake the woman before the sun rose. Most would find the sudden intrude of cold water alarming, but after having grown in the grasp of the Black Coast it was nothing out of the ordinary. As was the greeting from the grey canvas that loomed outside the entranceway. A thick fog accompanied the lone obsidian woman, almost thick enough to bite, and it was cause enough to stir the wolf to her paws. Letting a long yawn part her jaws, her teeth displayed lazily before she lifted her damp form off the cold stone crop and the tick of her claws echoed against that of the waves just bellow. Groggy, tired and still a little out of it, she had some time to decide whether or not she was going to go catch something to eat. Then again it was just a fleeting thought that all but dissipated as soon as it came to mind. The sudden hiss from a sea lion jolted her awake enough to notice the youngster was just a few rock leaps away. Watching the creature closely, her ear flicked back momentarily before a heavy sigh queued from her mouth and ultimately the woman continued on her way with a lowered head. Hearing obnoxious barks bounce of the Cliffside and directly from behind her as she sauntered along. Mara didn't really want to confront such a rude behavior, nor did she wish to hunt the spritely creature of ear piercing irritation. The best thing to do was move on. Though, judging by her staying in her birth lands, that was easier declared than done.

Her visits to the Black Coast were frequent - usually two or three times a moon. Taboo preferred her homelands of Dove Hill, but the easy prey always drew her to the coast eventually. This was one of those days, and as she lied downwind of a ignorant sea lion pup, her mouth watered. This would keep her fed for a planned journey to Sharktooth Island just the next morning. The baby seals always kept her fed. The morning fog obscured the sea lion's vision, which worked out perfectly for Taboo. She hadn't planned the fog, of course, but it seemed to work out in her favor and had set upon the land just an hour before when the she-wolf awoke. She'd always been an early bird, because of the saying and all that.
Crouched down low with her ears pinned to her head, she crept forward one step...two step...the barking and yelping coming from the pack of creatures was just enough to cover any noises Taboo might make while slowly moving ahead, and finally, when the timing was right, she leaped. The pup snorted and squealed as she drove her maw into its blubbery neck, and with a few twists and shakes, it was dead. This is when Taboo noticed the other wolf just several body-lengths away, and she immediately dropped the pup and crouched into a protective position over it. This wasn't meant to be aggressive, but she wasn't certain if this wolf would steal her catch or not! Cautiously, Taboo lifted her head and called out to the other being: "Hello? Who are you? I'm sorry to surprise you like that, I was so engrossed in hunting I didn't even notice you! The wind must've concealed your scent...but surely then you must've smelled me? Unless the wind was in neither of our favors, of course." Boy, could she ramble on. What was supposed to be a mere inquiry to the wolf's character ended up being several sentences! baylentine
