Half closed eyes were never far from being alert. Too many nights from hearing the terror in his own pounding head. The nightmares had always been there, they had been a plague since he had watched his twin waste away. Weak, that was the only description anyone had ever offered him and his kin. It was why they had been allowed to suffer, to live and die under blind eyes. No one ever found themselves inclined to watch, but it was a shame; they missed out on an opportunity that could not have been denied. The male had grown up, lived and thrived in the environment, despite the fact his health deterred him constantly from living a life that could have been full and rich.
Teeth lashed out as the rolling feeling pushed down through leg. It was almost like the threat of an oncoming seizure, but thankfully he had not had one since he was a pup. His mouth grasped his twitching limb, and the grumble rolled through his chest. It frustrated him, tempted to make a threat that could not be denied. It was not the first time he considered chewing off his own limb, and ultimately it would not be the last. As his head tipped to the side, he found the burning sensation getting stronger, a warning of some sort.
With a curse, the resting wolf arched to his long legs with almost a startled position taking lieu of his relaxed position. Stiffening his front leg, he could feel the burning ease. The frown crossed his features faintly, the handsome male draped in orange and greys, his head shaking in disbelief as he studied himself. Well, he was always an enigma. He was pained, tormented by the sweet voices in his ears. Trust me… Those words in itself was a death sentence. It spurred him forward like the dark wolf who had murmured the words in promise crawled after him. Nothing but a ghost, he reminded himself, and the stab of pain that followed he refused to let rule him.
Robin knew better than to breathe in the air and assume that life favoured him. Never had it even considered him, and his paws scrambled over the branches that reached up to snap on him. His head cocked to the side, and he found his chest tightening as he walked. Had it been so long since he had been welcomed into another’s company? It pained him to be alone, Robin was not efficient on his own. He was beautiful, for a male. There was nothing about him that was sharp, there was nothing about him that looked particularly masculine. With that assumption, it played on his mind.
He had lost so much, and now he scraped by. Every part of his life was just about scraping by, and it caused him to want to growl. Loathe to speak to himself, the male caused trouble when he grew bored. The loneliness was a reminder that he was expected elsewhere in the world. Some powerful beast would come along, and it would irk him that he had no standing. When Robin permitted himself to be manipulated, it was with cause.
Eyes broke his thoughts, the male stilled in his huffy walk. He appeared almost feminine, long legged and easily taken down. But it was not so, not as much as would have been assumed. It lucked him out often, however, as he looked hardly the threat he could have been. The male was tall, and if he had been bulky, it would have caused most to be wary. “Madame? Madame, what are you doing out here alone?" The alarm in his voice was not to be denied. A female! Good gracious!

Her chest slowly rose and slowly fell, body wrapped in a tight ball. She blended almost perfectly within the small bush protecting her from the eyes of others and giving her some sense of security. Though she remained alert, her ears erect and catching all the nearby sounds. Her mind was captured by dreams that were meant to keep the mind busy as the body rested. Mostly bits and pieces from her past and bits and pieces of her dreams laced together to create something worth living. A soft smile played upon her dark lips and things rolled smoothly within her mind, relaxing her body more as she drifted deeper into sleep. I'm watching you. Her eyes snapped open as she heard the deep eerie voice. Listening she quietly looked around unknowingly her muscles pulled her body into a tighter ball. The voice was from the past, the part she didn't want to relive. It was a voice of pure evil and pure insanity. The deep eerie chuckle made her quietly move and dart from what she thought was a safe heaven.
She wanted to slip away before he would fallow her, before he could capture and overpower her. Low to the ground she raced forward on petite paws. Quietly covering ground until she felt she was at a safe distance. Slowing she stopped by a large tree lifting her gaze to the big bright moon briefly. She moved again searching for another spot to rest for the night. She moved swiftly through the forest her light body keeping her from making to much noise. She remained alert as she moved, keeping to the shadows of the brush and the large trees. He was unaware of the male nearby until his voice filled her ears. She was surprised and sent into a short panic darting into a different direction. The tone of his voice didn't seem to make her feel any better. The panic took over her mind and her silver eyes darted around in her skull looking for a way out, for a shadow to hide within.
She slipped into the first thick bush she could find, flatten herself and tried her best to hide her white markings while keeping quiet.

It caused the male to want to laugh, out of all the luck in the world he would be approached with the opportunity of a terrified female. Sympathy warred against a twisted mouth, wary as he shuddered through the thought. Fear, such things were driven by a cause only fantasized about. It bothered him that he recognized it. It deteriorated his confidence with a grated reminder, and his head arched faintly. Yes, this was the situation he was forced to live with in his mind, while he watched the white female scurry away in horror.
With a swallow, the pain etched across his features as he walked forward. Careful, his paws dragged himself like he wagered he might stumble, although he was steady. His placed look on his features were coupled with lowered ears, body sunk against the pressure that was coming. He crept toward the female, knowing that the pained expression on his face would be mistaken. Ears swished on top of his head, and he licked his lips as he wagered his mind, knowing that things caused a hell in the mind. To escape such memories was never an easy feat.
“I'm terribly sorry,” Suave voice was pushed down into lowered tones, although it carried. He turned faintly away from staring straight on at the bush that she had scurried into, but his head dropped half an inch or so. He allowed his thoughts to roll, and the wolf rolled his claws against the earth. Whatever had startled her had not been him, he had simply enhanced it. The thick brush warranted a reminder that he ended to be careful, the little female could easily dart out and swipe the tall male off his feet. It was the last thing in the world the orange male desired to have happen, so his tail lowered, and he crouched. Not peering in the direction the female was flattened in, but off to the left. “I didn’t mean to startle you, madame. It was terribly rude of me. But it caused my heart to jump to see such a white beauty so… exposed.”

Her mind was a complete mess at the moment. Her heart was racing and her body was hot with excitement. Her dark ears were erect listening for the sound of the male. She had a feeling that he wasn't going to leave her alone that easily. She wasn't a coward, nor was she a scared female. Her natural reaction was to try and disappear, to avoid the confrontation. She was used to being alone, fending for herself, and stuck in the same sort of routine. She was never one to like change, change had never been good to her. The male was fallowing her, she could hear him coming. Her reaction was to tense up, to peel her lips back to protect herself. Her mind fought with itself; she wanted to run, but yet she wanted to prove she wasn't a coward. She didn't have a reputation around these parts and she didn't want a cowardly one. His smooth tones reached her ears, her eyes moving to stare at the male through the bush. Brilliant red, black, and white coat made it easy for her to see him. Tall and lean with bright yellow eyes, a look of hurt was painted all over her face. Her eyes focused on that look, body relaxing. She knew that look wasn't fake, that he was truly hurt and she figured it was because of her running from him. He didn't look like a threat, but this didn't mean this small female would let her guard down. If anything she would be more tentative on watching his moves.
His voice reached her ears again. Ears pricked forward to his words calling her a beauty and apologizing for startling her. the more she studied him the more he appeared to not be a threat, and that he was trying to show her that he wasn't. Lifting her petite form she casually moved from the bush, her eyes watching him as she moved. Walking into the open and into full site. She sat down, curling her thick black tail around her, silver eyes hard and untrusting. You could even say there was a feral look in her eyes, the voices were back whispering murderous ideas, twisted endings to this confrontation. Ears pricked forward as she looked at the tall male, naturally he was larger then her. She had been the runt of her litter and to her it wasn't a surprise to realize this fact. Licking her lips the female tried to lubricate her throat with saliva. It had been a while since she had spoken to another that she knew her vocals would crack. Adjusting herself she tried to sit a bit taller so she wouldn't look so much smaller in comparison to him. She was a petite and curvy looking female. Seemed to be in the perfect weight from the carcass she had gorged on two days before.
She was actually fairly pretty if she didn't keep herself out of sight all the time. The male reeked of other wolves which she made the assumption that he was from a pack. She tensed a bit more, preparing for others to randomly show themselves. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she looked over the male again, studying his posture and the look on his face. Tilting her head slightly before she swallowed again, preparing to speak.
"I think you may need those yellow eyes of yours checked," her lyrics were surprisingly light, pleasant, and thick with the pitch only a female could have.

There was nothing easy about meeting a strange wolf, but Robin was fairly adept at being the perfect test run. Patient, easily pushed around, there was nothing that could not be done to him before he would give in. There seemed to be an endless tolerance to him, and it proved in such as the female looked ready to bolt further. If she chose running as the way to escape the shadows of her mind, then he would have welcomed it. He had done nothing wrong, but he would accept that not all desired him in their path.
Her suspicions were not to be questioned by him, but his head dropped happily as he heard the sound of his voice. Ah! The speechless did have a tongue, and a lovely one at that. His yellow-questioned eyes shined with the pleasure of the tossed back words, and he preened over the attention. Well, she had noticed his eyes were yellow, had she not? That was more than could have been expected, and his head bobbed seriously.
“Nonsense, my lady.” His words were crisp on the air, and his head cocked the side. “It's not the eyes that others have damaged on me, it’s everything else.” Cheerful voice announced, although he still kept the tone softened and masculine. There was no need to be scaring her away, and yet the sympathy touched his eyes. What had driven her to this point? What torture had she been put through?
His heart ached, simply because he knew what it was like to feel that wild feeling that danced in her eyes. The panic was something he had witnessed, and only had found solace in with… Well, he was not going to let that name be popped into his head. His apologetic gaze stayed on her, though, and his head bowed faintly. “Best not worry, I am the least likely in the world to hurt you… I’m lucky I can kill a field mouse, let alone take on a female who’s alone and knows all about fighting for every breath.”

Her black ears moved forward, listening intently to his words. She couldn't think if he was just dumb or that he honestly didn't get the picture. She had never been properly socialized, she didn't understand how she should react to his words. It frustrated her, words and phrases running through her mind as she tried to pick the right one to say. While doing so her one good eye wandered, trailing over the male's form once again. It wasn't long before they landed on those bright yellow eyes, just before he spoke once again. When he spoke of damage others have done, her eyes closed briefly, even her blind eye. Damage was something she knew rather well, her past was filled with it. It was an uncomfortable thing for her to think over, the fear of reliving what had happened or even something worse was enough to keep the petite female on edge. It was what drove her to stay antisocial, to not give others the chance. Persistence was the only way another could get her to socialize, the better odds is when another was alone.
Memories flashed through her mind as her eyes opened and she turned her head to look behind her. On the back of her head and the beginning of her cervical vertebrae was a rather large scar, somewhat bare and the rest of it covered in silver fur. It was only a quick exposure before she settled to be looking back at him, hiding the scar from view. Looking to those yellow eyes she recognized his look, something she always saw in her mother's eyes and even sometimes in her father's. A bit of relief washed over her, settling a bit more, but still remaining rather alert. His words made her torn, she wanted to relax more and yet she wanted to remain on edge. What if his words were lies, he could just be playing her. He didn't seem like it, but then again she knew nothing about him and he could be a master of masking his true intentions. So she settled on staying alert and a bit on edge.
Once again she found herself struggling to find words, not knowing how to reply to the male before her. Looking to his eyes again, trying her best to read him, but she had never been good at it.
"Then what is your intentions," she said in a blunt manner.

Robin was a smart wolf when it came to others. He seemed to be watching his opposite, the ultimate survivor who could not handle his presence, while he craved the presence of others like a drug in order to survive. His head tipped to the side, and he watched her as she struggled to understand where she was in this moment, and what sort of a risk she was at. While he realized he was being assessed, nothing occurred to him that might have offered some solace. There could just be honesty, he was not out with any intention of harm.
“Completely selfish ones, I assure you.” His words were soft when he answered her question, his body lowering itself a bit more to the ground. How could he appease the fear? How could he make her understand; it questioned his mind and he turned over the matters a fair few times. Then decidedly, he found himself looking off to the side to her to cease his constant staring, knowing that it was intimidating to be eyed down like a potential flight risk.
“You see, I am a wolf as much as you are, my dear one.” The explanation seemed so simple on his mouth, even as he offered her an apologetic glance. “I crave the comfort of others,” The honesty in his voice was soft, almost a reminder. Yes, he supposed he was seeing a wolf who had not known what comfort could be brought, and the sadness exhaled from his mouth on a sigh. It was heart breaking, it was a loss no wolf should ever needed to suffer.
He had been banished, after all, simply for being not good enough. He was considered to be defective, him and his sister - rest her soul peacefully - and there had been no turning back. To be deemed unworthy to the world was a harsh critic very few survived. He suspected there was parts of this female that did not remain intact, but still he inched a little closer. “Company, my dear.” He paused, then head lowered submissively, “I am known as Robin, and you may call me so--”
The male paused, “And if your name is yours to protect, little dove, don't despair. I won't demand it from you, simply your time. Not your words, just your presence.” His head bowed, “I would hope to be welcomed, but tolerated would do as well.”

Her mind was in a knotty mess of thoughts trying to pin him a friend or a foe. She could never remember having this much trouble when interacting. It could have been that this was the first time in years that she actually gave another the chance to interact with her or maybe it was perhaps she hadn't met another like him. She was curious, whether her anxious mind would allow her to admit it or not. He was handsome, he was being respectful and kind, and persistent. He wasn't trying to hunt her down, or overpower her. Instead this male was showing signs of being submissive and friendly. The wild glimmer in her eyes seemed to die down a bit as she watched his body language. His words were interesting, making her curiosity fight to surface within her mind. Fighting to allow her to relax and just enjoy the company. Completely Selfish ones, the words rolled around within her mind trying to figure out what he meant.
He then lowered himself to the ground more trying to make himself look more and more harmless as if he was determined to show her that he was completely harmless. He started again, her ears perking once more to catch his words. She found herself more curious with his next words, causally tilting her head, just slightly to the left as she looked at him. Her good eye glazed over as she found herself buried in her thoughts still trying to figure out his meaning. Crave the comfort of others....... Do I really? Do we share that quality, do I really crave comfort from others? She was pretty lonely all the time. She managed well aside from craving the comfort of her family, that was just her brother. She had been separated from him ever since she healed from the attack. She didn't want him to get hurt, or to get killed like her father had. Since then she never let herself get near others, so the only comfort she craved was from her own blood.
She didn't seem to mind him moving closer to her personal space, to lost in her thoughts to mind. When he spoke again, it drug her from her mind to pay attention to him again. She toyed with his name in her mind, trying to imagine how it would sound if she spoke it. He then added, being respectful towards her and not demanding her name, and hoping he would be tolerated by her at least. The more she thought it over the more it sounded like a decent idea.
"As long as we can head towards the lake, my mouth isn't used to talking this much," she replied, her mouth was getting just a bit dry.

Well, if anything, Robin had won the smallest of battles. His features remained soft, and the sigh pulled out of his lips as he offered the dark female a dip of his head. His body shifted carefully, his tail swished from one side to the other in a pull that wanted him to call. His ears pulled back against his head, and his head remained dropped enough to prove that he was not going to turn on her. The last thing in the world that he would have wanted was for her to feel suddenly betrayed.
There was something that could not be denied, and his lips quirked up as he found himself walking in an effortless show of movement. His body turned itself in the direction of the lake, and his paws carefully brought him to come alongside the female without ever coming close to enclose on her space. "It would be my pleasure to escort a lovely lady of the night to the water." His words were honest, almost delightful.
Somehow he was in a good mood, somehow she had caused him to wear a goofy smile. She was giving him a chance! What more could he have asked for in a situation like this, and his tail remained loose behind him. There was no look of severe concern, he would not force her to stay with him. But the tolerance, it was more than he could have ever taken a thought for.
With a pause, he realized for a few seconds what side he was on. It was a shock that brought him pausing, and she shifted to back up and go around to the other side of her. Of course it was a suspicious action, and his eyes looked apologetically to the female. "Deaf on the left, I was born with it." His head tipped to the side, "Almost everything else was brought on by others... The limp was from an alpha who thought it would be funny to have an orange dog to play with who wouldn't be able to run away without being very bluntly noticed."
Yes, he was a bit of a speaker. But he escorted her as he promised, taking only the lead by the step or two, easily diverting his course if she seemed to choose it. To the lake; perhaps it would be warm enough to swim in, his quiet mind mocked.
