Mistigan sat on a large flat black boulder which was surrounded by the tides. He sat tall, staring towards the Island thinking. He was raised here, playing in the falls and dancing through the wooded areas. But he feared that his home would be taken away from him and him be pushed out. For a pack had settled this land. Well the beginnings of one anyway. Now Mistigan was formulating what to do next. He had four options: leave Shark Tooth Isle, join the pack, drive out the pack, or try and stay hidden from the pack. If this pack grew there might not be enough prey for them and himself.....well....he was sure there was enough, but they'd get to it before him. Mistigan had always been alone before.....but now he had the chance to have friends, pack mates, perhaps even pups some day.
Is that what you really want?
He asked himself as he gazed upon the steady slope of the island. It was spring and everything was green. Miss burst to like of the rocks Ann's trees, small, fresh sprouts of reeds and wild flowers plowing through the cold, dead earth. Perhaps he should follow natures example and start anew.....should he howl? Make his presence known? Or should he wait for the acclaimed 'alpha' to scope his or her territory and find him?
Mistigan sighed a puff of white steam and swirled a paw into the waters, setting off the bioluminescent plankton. If the alpha was high up, he could see the spot of neon color....if no one came Mistigan might just change his mind.

[attr="class","itsover"]
As compared to the considerable climb up the mountain, making her way down was much easier. Reaching the base of the hill in record time, Iiona paused briefly to glance up, head tilting back as she observed the peak. It was so far away now, but just hours earlier, she had been standing right there, laying her claim to the land. And, now, without any further ado, she was the alpha... It was strange to think that way.[break][break]
Well, even if she was the alpha, Iiona needed to more or less take care of herself right now. The pack's ranks were empty, so it was just herself that she needed to look after. While that made things somewhat simpler, Iiona hoped that wolves that have heard her call will be interested in joining her pack. The Faure legacy is long-lived, and Iiona had no interest ending it with her.[break][break]
As she padded through the tropical landscape, scenting the air in search of any available prey, Iiona found herself walking the familiar path down to Purgatory Reef. A lemur had plodded along her not too long ago, and Iiona followed his scent, her nose low to the ground as she sniffed carefully. For every step she took, the scent grew stronger; when it became overwhelming, Iiona knew she was close.[break][break]
Muscles tightening, Iiona prepared herself for the case in which she revealed her presence too early and scared the lemur into fleeing. But, then she stopped, head tilting in confusion as the scent trail stops cold.[break][break]
What? She thought to herself, eyes narrowing in confusion. How?[break][break]
Then, as she stood to look around, Iiona flinched away when something swung to tap her flank. Spinning around, she noticed a dangling piece of vine that connected to the treetop canopy overhead.[break][break]
That's how, Iiona relented as she peering into the dense foliage.[break][break]
With her prey lost for good, Iiona decided to move on. Maybe if she traveled towards Sky Falls she'd have a better chance of catching something. Turning away, Iiona was just about to set off when an ocean breeze stopped her. For the most part, it was nothing alarming, just the natural smell of the salty waters surrounding the Island. Laced under that, however, was a faint scent, but one Iiona managed to discern nevertheless: another wolf. Looking back over her shoulder, Iiona pondered carefully over what to do. She could always let sleeping dogs lie and leave the wolf alone, but if they were hostile, they could prove a threat to the pack later. Yet, if it came down to a fight, Iiona wasn't sure she could overpower the loner. Considering the two possibilities, Iiona sighed briefly as she turned back around to finish her trek to Purgatory Reef. As the alpha, she needed to scout out all lone wolves in the area, and protect the pack if they were dangerous.[break][break]
But, who knows, Iiona told herself in an attempt to keep her hopes up.They might just be the first member to join the pack.[break][break]
Reaching the edge of the forest, Iiona padded out onto the rocky beach. Immediately, her eyes honed in on the lone wolf sitting by the waterside. For a moment, she just stood and watched him in silence. Observing him carefully, Iiona noted how the wolf was very evidently built for great strength; even sitting down, he appeared to be more muscular than she was. Yet, there's been nothing to suggest an ill demeanor, and, after he dipped his paw into the waters, Iiona approached him.[break][break]
"My name," she said, voice strong and unwavering. "Is Iiona Faure, and I am the alpha of the Sharktooth Island. Now that I have rightfully claimed this land, what are your plans from here on out, wolf?"

Mistigan had only just with drawn his now wet paw when a voice called to him from over the waters. The shore was a bit dark from the shadows of the overhanging trees and so he only found the outline with his dark gold eyes. The female voice announced herself the Alpha if this land. That was quick. Mist mused to himself. Now was the defining moment of likely the rest of his life. This fateful decision would set him on a new path. But which path would he dare take. Rising from his isolated rock, he silently slipped into the settling waters, plankton blooming brightly around his legs and he padded slowly forward, eyes eerily focused on the slender shape of the Alphess. She seemed to know how to speak as a leader, but did she really know how to lead? Was this pack his worthy home? Was this the right decision? There was only one way to find out.
"I, The male started as he emerged from the waters to face the shewolf. "am Mistigan of Sharktooth Isle." He bowed slightly, keeping his eyes on her at all times. He wasn't challenging her per say; merely showing her that he wasn't a minion to be pushed around with a flick of a tail. Letting her know that if he was going to join her pack, he needed respect and slight independence. "And I am potentially interested in joining your pack; as this isn't home and I don't plan on leaving it." The male searched the Alphess' eyes. She was obviously excited, which wasn't a bad trait, but he hoped it wasn't childish glee. They couldn't have an immature leader.
While Mist had his doubts, this path seemed like the best option. And if Pack life didn't appeal to him, he could simply resign and leave. The blackish red hewolf swished his tail and let it hang low, in anon threatening way. He didn't want a fight, for he was certain she would lose, and Mistigan didn't want to take out the pack. For what would that earn him? More loneliness? While most enjoyed the silence and tranquility he had often dreamt of having an actual purpose besides eat, sleep, repeat.

Iiona observed Mistigan carefully, her eyes never leaving his as she took in his posture, tone, and every minuscule movement that would betray his intentions. His mind was strong, and he was self-assured in his every movement. How strange, Iiona reflected. We've both lived here our whole lives, and yet I have never met this wolf before in my life.[break][break]
Sizing him up, the two stood there in silence. Iiona's muscles were tight, prepared for any signs of danger. But, as the wolf showed no interest in violence, she relaxed ever so slightly. And, after yet another moment, Iiona nodded her head.[break][break]
"Very well, Mistigan," she spoke. "As the alpha of this territory, I welcome you. You are invited to join the pack if that is your wish. "[break][break]
And, hopefully, that was all he wished for. With his evident strength, Iiona was sure that he would prove to be an asset to her newly formed pack. Moreover, since he claims to have lived here his entire life, she was sure that he knew his way around the Island. That would make it much easier when it came to hunting and traveling. Yet, without any other loyal pack mates to solidify her position, she needed to be careful in case she had read him wrong and Mistigan's true character was one much less... agreeable.

Mistigan sat down on the sand now that the shewolf seemed to loosen up. Perhaps this was good. Yes, this was a good choice. He got to stay home, he was peaceful, Iiona seemed like well enough company. So, was that it? Just poof, you're in the pack? No...Mist remembered; there were ranks and such to discuss. "I believe I would," The male bowed more graciously this time, considering the Alphess deeply. "Though...what about the rank issue....is now too soon?" Perhaps he should be more relaxed around her. Perhaps he should be more friendly; frankly more likable. He regarded himself, he was a great Hunter, he knew the land well. He was sure the Alphess would let him into her inner circle, non existent as it was. Perhaps he should do what he did best, hunt. Fend for himself. And others now that he was part of a pack. He turned his dark gold eyes towards her own. Looking deep into her eyes. Why did she want a pack anyway? Was she lonely? Ambitious? Bored? Hopeful? Progressive? Maybe she was duffel long a legacy. Mistigan wasn't doing what his fathers legacy demanded of him. He was supposed to be leading a pack just like this shewolf was doing. He was denying what his mother said was his fate and destiny to do. Whatever.

As Mistigan began to relax, Iiona followed suit. Sitting back on her haunches, she allowed her tense posture to slip away. Her shoulders slumped down, and the fur along her spine settled. Even though she sat there, as dignified as ever, Iiona appeared much more open.[break][break]
"No, you're right," she agreed when he brought up the issue of ranks. Frankly, she knew the basic set up thanks to her parents, but she never thought she'd have to rebuild her pack completely from scratch. "We should decide your position in the pack before we do anything else."[break][break]
Once again looking him over, Iiona began a more detailed sweep for any physical traits she may have missed before. From the way he had been walking earlier, she had detected that something was amiss. He's probably carrying the weight of battles seasons earlier, she reasoned. But, if he was confidant enough to confront another wolf head-on, then whatever injuries he may still be nursing cannot have affected him that much.[break][break]
"Honestly, just from first glance, I feel like you would be a spectacular guard," Iiona stated. "You're strong and big, and you look like you can fight off an alligator easily enough if the situation came down to that. But, hunting may also be a viable choice for you, since you're native to the Island and, therefore, know all about how to hunt here."[break][break]
Finishing her spiel, Iiona offered Mistigan a chance to speak his mind on the topic. She was still curious about his origins, and once they got these courtesies out of the way, she would be interested in asking about his history.

Mistigan nodded at Iionas conclusions and then added his own. "I think a hunting position would do well for me, as I haven't gotten used to having company. The alone time inbetween hunting and pack time will help me adjust." Mist found himself liking this concept of being part of a pack. Pushing all doubts away, he looked to the future. "Yes I do believe this rank is what I desire." he thoughtfully gazed upwards at the dark island. This was the next step in his life. A gateway to something greater. There was no telling what lay ahead.
Mistigan returned his attention to his bee Alphess and spoke. "Perhaps before we formulate ranks, we should consecrate the pack camp." He advised his superior. She must be a bit in bliss about the whole thing, either that or anxiety. He knew he would.

Iiona could have kicked herself right then. Of course, she realized as her pelt flushed hot with embarrassment. How could I have forgotten? But, despite her inner turmoil, she kept a calm exterior and nodded in agreement with Mistigan.[break][break]
"Definitely," she said, getting to her feet. Turning to walk away into the forest, Iiona motioned for him to follow her. "The camp is along this way."[break][break]
Weaving through the trees with an expertise honed through a lifetime of walking the same trail, she held her head up high as she trotted along a path she could have followed in her sleep. It wasn't a long walk from where they had started; the pack was situated in a hollow near the base of the mountain at the center of the Island. Not only did it provide adequate shelter and protection from the elements, but it was also close enough to the shore that the Sharktooth Island pack could react quickly in case anything less amiable washed ashore their beaches. But, as strategically viable as it was, Iiona held back a sigh at the emptiness of the area.[break][break]
"It's not much, yet," she admitted as she welcomed Mistigan in. "But, I'm sure that the pack's ranks will swell again, as long as we give it time. Anyways, welcome to our home. Feel free to rest if you wish. Your duties will officially start tomorrow, so take this time to get settled in."[break][break]
Nodding at him in farewell, Iiona left him alone in the hollow to return to her hunt; after all, some wolves preferred not to have an alpha hovering over their shoulders when trying to relax. Moreover, she admitted to herself as she scented the air, searching for any prey in the vicinity. We could both do with something to eat.
